I'm actually wondering if they meant to put Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in that list of episode lengths but put JTV down instead since that's the same day Crazy Ex announced its extension but it's not on that list--which you'd think it would be.

Well the episode count could have changed from April when that interview took place. It did for Crazy Ex (13 to 18). But it's very weird timing considering Crazy Ex's episode count was the only one released.

Supposedly the number of episodes needed for syndication has been lowered to 88 so it doesn't matter to me that they are one episode short. I want her to not waste time in the last season telling unnecessary stories.

For Jane? If it's true--no one knows for sure but it was announced on July 13th.

For syndication? Years ago. In fact, it's one of the reasons I was thinking they'd only get a 13 episode final season. 100 just isn't as important as it used to be.

I'm not worried about the 100 vs. 99 thing. I just want a good ending.

I didn't even know syndication was still a thing unless the show was a long running hit, like The Big Bang Theory.

It isn't what it used to be. Sitcoms and non-serialized shows tend to fare better. (Another reason I didn't think it really mattered how many episodes they did--Jane doesn't feel like a very syndicatable show.)

The number is strange because they do not do 99. It's always 100. Just like with Gotham. The less than 100 thing doesn't happen if a series makes it pass the fourth season. That's why TPTB said S5 will give the show 100 episodes. Same with Gotham. Of course I care about the storyline more than anything. But those ridiculously long 22/25 episode seasons add up. 22x5 = 110. 23x5 = 115. And so on. If network television wants to keep up with streaming and cable, they will have to find a way to cut episode counts down the line. We have to wait and see when the hell is the new season is going to premiere?

It makes little sense why they dropped an episode. Did Crazy Ex's ep increase influence this? Did they realize they wouldn't have much room on the show?
