Because she went 'ohhh' when he fell out of his chair, out of concern for him.
Because the second time he sang the 'Derek and Shannon' rap she joined in.
Because when he asked for a beat she gave him one.
Because he's so phat.
Because she laughs with him, not at him.
Because she likes his geeky charm.
Because she wanted to stay and have fun.
Because her dog Minnie is their mascot.
Because she thinks this guy Derek Hough can be really cool.
Because during the first elimination round they were the first ones called finding out they were safe to go onto the next round.
Because when she equated the Jive with kickboxing, he made it easier for her to learn, but having her practice with a punching-pag.
Because she knocked him around the ring a little bit and liked it.
Because when she needed to sit down to catch her breath after their Jive, he sat right down on the floor with her.
Because they layed back on the floor together.
Because even though their Jive was the hardest dance he'd taught her at that point and she was terrified, she just went out there and had fun.
Because he likes being beaten around a little bit by her.
Because he said being kicked in the face by her was okay.
Because they're having a blast!
Because she doesn't want to leave his little face.
Because hopefully as she gets better, it'll feel easier and sink in, he agreed hopefully.

Because he asked her to just make sure his fly was up as he was being rolled away on the gurney. (lol)
Because when he got injured and was being carried away on the gurney, she was right by his side.
Because when he reached out for her hand, she held it.
Because she kissed him sweetly on the cheek.
Because as he was being lifted into the ambulance, she watched with tears in her eyes.
Because it was really scary for her to see him hurt.
Because they're partners.
Because they've become really close.
Because she was really concerned that he might not be okay.Because when she walked into the studio and saw him after his injury, the first thing she asked him was if he was okay and how he was doing.
Because he thought it was frustrating how he'd choreographed their dance, but had to sit out due to recovery.
Because it was hard to keep him in his chair and not dance with her.
Because when they started rehearsing and he seemed hurt, she immediately asked him how he was.
Because it was hard for her to concetrate on the dance because she didn't think he was following doctor's orders.
Because she was more concerned about him being okay, than their Waltz.
Because she thought he should sit down for a bit and when he protested, she made sure he did anyways.

Because even though he was still in pain, he was concerned about letting her down.
Because she didn't want him to hurt himself all over again.
Because their Waltz was the most romantic dance ever!

Because they have such chemistry and passion in their dances.
Because Bruno Tonioli told her how she became more than just the 'hot babe' during her Waltz, but was elegant.
Because Bruno said their Waltz was like two young lovers meeting each other on the scented meadow.
Because Bruno said their Waltz was like spring.
Because Carrie Ann noticed something was definitely happening between them.
Because after she got her compliment from Carrie Ann, he whispered 'good job, baby' in her ear.
Because Len (keeping things short and sweet), said their Waltz was the best dance he'd seen that night.
Because even after all the amazing comments by the judges, she still wished she could have done her Waltz again having jokingly threating to slap her again.
Because he thinks she's amazing.
Because he couldn't be any happier.
Because he was really, really happy the night of their Waltz.
Because when asked about what it was like working with a different partner, she said he was amazing, but when Derek playfully looked offended, she pulled him in for a hug and let us know she would never get rid of her boy.
Because the night of their Waltz they finally got their first score of 10 (and two 9s).
Because they scored the first 10 from Len of the season.
Because they are so cute doing their rap.
Because she massaged his neck for him.
Because she worked as his massage therapist-dance partner during his recovery.

Because it's okay for her to eat anything she wants 'cause he'll just dance it off with her.
Because Melanie Brown suggested that Shannon could give him a hot, sexy massage.
Because he wouldn't disagree with that hot, sexy massage.
Because Samantha told them just how obvious their chemistry was.
Because backstage everyone was chanting 'Kiss! Kiss! Kiss' and 'Kiss her! Kiss her! Kiss her!'
Because his sister Julianne Hough was the one to start the 'Kiss her! Kiss her! Kiss her!' chant.
Because Julianne sees something between them.
Because their chemistry was definitely undeniable during their Waltz.
Because he said it wasn't hard to get into the romance opposite a beautiful face like hers.

Because Mark Ballas said Derek's neck injury was cured by the touch of Shannon.
Because his best friend Mark sees something between them.
Because they spent three minutes interviewing each other.
Because they're constantly flirting with each other.
Because when he found out she was his partner he skipped down the road with rainbows and butterflies.

Because they're just so into each other.
Because he hangs out in her trailer with her.
Because he always plays his guitar for her just to calm her nerves.

Because he helps take her mind of the fact she'll be dancing live in front of millions of people.
Because they were caught kissing on the beach after the DWTS cameras had left.
Because they put a new dance up just for us fans.
Because they are attached at the hip.
Because when asked about their relationship, he couldn't keep a straight face.
Because wherever they go, they travel back and forth to each other.
Because their relationship is more important than a reality show.
Because they seem perfect for each other.
Because they were friends first.
Because he surprised her in LV.
Beucase she says they would have done "the kiss" if they had done the encore like they had already did it.
Because she didn't want to miss out on anything in life, (which she now knows is a lot bigger than an opportunity to dance aka Derek).
Because she said she's the real winner here.
Because they were on Jimmy Kimmel together and he thought they looked adoreable

Because I saw their relationship grow into something so sweet and caring and they always seem to have so much fun together! They reminded me of myself and my hubby when we first met! I also think they are both such down to earth people who truly care about others not to mention all the wonderful talent they both have!! Derek's AWESOME talent is what made me watch season 6 of DWTS but I am soooo glad I did!!~curls4derek

Shannon and Derek are such a great couple because they seem to have so much fun together and love life as well as each other. They put each other first and are very supportive of one another. I think they just "get" each other.~roygbib

I think the main reason I ship Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth is they seem like real people, who found eachother doing the crazy show of Dancing With The Stars. Shannon is an amazing person, and a hero to me, she's given so much to be with Derek, and Derek is such a sweet guy, and Shannon truly brings out the best in him. I wish them nothing but the best, and congratulations to us shippers for 50 threads, and our lovely couple for proving all their haters wrong, and making it a year, heres for many more to come!~Diana (Princess.Diana)

I love Shannon and Derek because of their genuine care for each other. A perfect example of this is the VW rehearsals. Derek had hurt his neck while rehearsing with Julianne for a result show performance. Shannon was so concerned for him and felt like he wasn’t following the doctors orders. She even said that she would drop out of the competition so he could heal properly. I thought that was one of the sweetest things ever. Even to this day, they continue to not only show their care for each other, but also their support, commitment, and love for one another. It’s been a joy to follow their relationship and watch them grow as a couple, and I wish them the best of luck in the future.~gabegirl45
