Defectives [Chuck ♥ Blair + 1] #161:Because we're all in with Chuck and Blair
She was the Queen of Constance High School, ruling the school like it was her kingdom. He wasn't a prince, nor was he a king; he was the Dark Knight. Her life was like a movie and she was the main character. Her life was black and white. His life was reality. Never have two characters been so alike yet so different. Yet together they were Chuck and Blair, Blair and Chuck.
She was his best friend's girlfriend, his second toughest critic, and most importantly she was his friend. He was her scheming partner, the only one she could really count on, and most importantly he was her friend. Blair's view of the world and her life was in black and white, until that one night that changed it all. She had ended her relationship with her long time boyfriend, his best friend, and needed a place to escape. He had his first business idea come true; the Victrola burlesque. It was the perfect place for escaping and letting go.
"you know, I got moves." She told, holding the champagne glass close to her and watched as the girls danced. Amused by her sudden response, he leaned forward. "so, why don't you get up there?" His dare made her laugh since all she was saying was that she had got moves. "come on, you're ten times hotter than any of those girls!" Knowing Chuck Bass, Blair knew what he was doing. He really didn't think that she would go up there, and honestly why would he? Why would anyone believe that the perfect Blair Waldorf, that saw everything in black and white, would go up there? "guard my drink," she bossed, and then history happened. As the song stripper played she went up there, started to move her hips, and stripped out of her dress. Her dark curls fell down her face as she removed her headband and he watched this completely and utterly m e m o r i z e d. He had a hard time grasping at what was really happening and when a stranger came over to ask who the girl was, he was almost lost for words. "I have no idea."
For a girl who loved to have her life planned out, she was surly enjoying herself dancing up there. She was letting go and letting free. She didn't try to be the perfect girl that she wanted herself to be and the girl that she wanted everyone else to believe she was. In that moment she was Blair Waldorf. She was at her best and she had all the control in the world of her actions and body. She was who she was and it was okay. The world didn't end because Blair Waldorf decided to stop pretending; the world became hers. It was no longer in black and white; it was in colors. Beautiful colors and beautiful images. Chuck Bass fell in love with Blair Waldorf at this moment. He fell in love with her light and her dark. Chuck Bass was stunned by the woman who was dancing for him. He was speechless at the woman who stripped down her dress and removed her headband, and embraced everything that she was.
What followed after was the famous limo scene. The limo was filled with silence at first as the coda rolled in. Sum 41's With me played as Blair thanked him for the lift home. Still in total shock and blown away after what he's seen, he looked at her and said "you were amazing up there." This wasn't a line to get her in his pants or out of her dress. This was him thinking that she was amazing up there. She took in his compliment, moved closer to him, and kissed him for the first time. Chuck Bass, the all known womanizer, pulled away from the kiss and asked her if she was sure. He didn't know how far she wanted to go but still, he didn't want to continue to kiss her unless she was sure. Blair responded to his question by kissing him for the second time and showing him, and us, that she was in control. She would always be. Blair always wanted her first time to be special and she wanted her life to be like in the movies, and at that moment it was. It was perfect. It wasn't planned and it wasn't with the person that she thought that she would lose it too, but it was with someone who saw the real her and didn't look back.
And yes love isn't only r o m a n c e and butterflies, but Chuck and Blair had their fair share of romance and butterflies. After the limo we got, butterflies; roof tops; secret seeings; dances; fights; jealousy; bars; scheming; weddings; wedding speeches; wedding dances; cuddling; guest stars; lords and princes; paris and the train station; engagement rings and pregnancies; family issues and parents coming back from the death; pacts with god and pacts with themselves; letting go and never letting go; being there for each other and believing in each other, but most importantly there was always love. Together they are Chuck and Blair, Blair and Chuck.
Through it all, I made my mistakes, I stumble and fall, but I mean these words
I want you to know with everything I won't let this go, these words are my heart and soul
It wouldn’t be my world without you in it.

+ None of that was expected. Chuck came into the show as the villain. But it’s one of those great, fun things about making a television series — it’s an evolving, living, breathing thing, and things can easily change on a whim. You get an actor like Ed Westwick and see the chemistry he had with Leighton Meester, and their scenes just crackled. So it felt like, here are two people who are bonded by their mutual scheming and the dark side of the show, at least from the beginning, and that would naturally evolve into a romantic relationship. One that was fraught and often conflict-laden, but ultimately incredibly romantic and fulling for both the characters and the audience. They came into the show as very different kinds of roles, but the chemistry between them took over.
