When I expressed concern about the eventual ending for the lovers–characters die on this show with regularity– she said the ending was bittersweet but may leave room for some “positives,” even though their real-life historical counterparts didn’t survive the rebellion. “At the end of the day, it’s a television and there are some surprises,” she said. I hope this means what I think it means.  |

That quote is very hopeful. I know crixus will die but would love for Naevia to survive with his child. That would be a fitting ending to the series as Crixus & Naevia are the main romance on the show.

I know, it's bittersweet but I'm looking forward to those "surprises" CAR mentioned. Steven DeKnight also hinted that their would be a "ray of hope" as was the case in the Kirk Douglas version.
