From what I hear from fans and critics... HHr made a splash that they weren't exactly supposed to make. It must kill JKR to see that a pairing she once called "delusional" still gains a huge amount of attention.

I don't think I ever wanted JKR to mess with the lovely friendship Harry and Hermione have by putting them in a romance in the books, because she can't write romance and it's never been the reason I read and loved the books. But damn, why can't the movies have an alternate ending, lol. Because I wasn't looking for it, but it slaps me in the face every time I watch the movies: Dan and Emma have much better chemistry than either of them has with canon romance co-stars.
