I do think that Season 2 is the best Angel season, because it accomplished the task of turning Angel dark without turning him into Angelus. The whole double-edged sword of him allowing Darla and Dru to kill the lawyers, and then he fires his team because they don't respect his decision... It was all so well written and acted.

I love 'The Trial' episode, with Darla seeing the true goodness in Angel when he is willing to sacrifice himself to save her, then his pain when Dru turns her back into a vampire... Wow, that was incredible television.

Plus, the whole aspect of Cordelia finding it hard to forgive Angel when he comes back to them in 'Epiphany'... You feel the history of Cordy/Angel in that she was so betrayed when he abandoned her.

Plus I much preferred the fang gang pre-Fred because I hated the love triangle. Sorry Fred. You could've been a good character but they used you to create man-angst.

I adored Fred in Season 3 (which shocked me because I usually can't stand new additions to main casts), she brought a bubbly and awkward trait to the gang that played well against the charisma and confidence of Cordelia. But I definitely agree that I preferred the dynamic when it was just Angel, Cordy, Wes and Gunn.

In fact, some of the greatest AtS scenes are when Wes, Gunn and Cordy bond after Angel fires them. The karaoke scene, "we are the champions" unforgettable drunks!

I liked Fred at first but I didn't like how all the men eventually loved her so much.

Spike even did only in a platonic way but could have seen the show going there poss.

Oh ewww, you're right That whole silly exchange when he was a ghost: "think I'm hot, do you"?

I agree that they went overboard with the Everybody Loves Fred scenario. It's a little ridiculous in the episode where she dies and she's like, "all my guys are here..."

That's what I liked about Cordelia. She wasn't guy crazy in the show. She was an independent woman who happened to have male friends.

Plus, the whole Cangel romance didn't just happen out of nowhere. There was build-up. Lots o mutual trust and respect.

I didn't watch it but I did hear things and see gifs and the overflow Fred love seemed so weird to me. Especially with Spike. But maybe I'm just being bitter as I felt it came off they cared more about Fred then they did Cordy. And while Cordy being my fave is seeping through it's also they knew her more and longer so wtf?!

I feel like in fic putting her with Spike is just convenient and not necessarily bc the writer ships them. Though of course, plenty ship SB & CA. Now I'm rambling

Worried about Angel in the ring. But is it Angel? Is it?
Wonder if I was around for that. It's been so long. I always love AC (and always will) but I do go through period were like now I want to discuss things and read fic and etc. and times where still loving them but there on the back burner so to speak.

Yeah that could be it too.

It really does and it's so sad to see that happen. And so agree with you about seasons 1 and 2.

That's exactly how I feel. I only really liked Fred with her friendship with Cordy and it was nice overall it wasn't such a boys club anymore. But even after saying that last I actually preferred it when it was just A/C/W/G. But that is because I never warmed up to Fred. And yeah her being used to get in the middle of GW didn't help at all.

Same. Right now I'm in full AC mode. Fic, arts, gifs, you name it, Gimme.

Don't even get me started. All the men were acting like they were losing the love of their lives when Fred died.

Aww he was so uncomfortable and didn't wanna be there but came to her party anyway.

Aww I love how he came anyway. It's little moments like that make love Cangel so much Season 1.

Same. Their little S1 interactions are gold.

This was annoying. I had nothing against Fred herself as a character, but we don't need everyone to fall in love with her!

^ I was never really a fan of Fred so I'll admit maybe I'm being a little biased but it's nice to see it from someone who didn't really care either way about Fred also feel the same

Carmen - That's how it came off to me too when I read about it and ugh!

Love those. Love he still showed up even if it was the last place he wanted to be and then the dancing.

There are so many moments like that with them. There could be, like, 4 more 'married cangel' themed gifsets.

I tend to dislike when one character has pretty much everyone being in love with them, it feels Mary-Sueish. I was really worried they were going to do something with Fred and Spike, which would have cheapened the last season of Buffy imo.

I think that's something I like about Cordy&Angel, they looked like they'd fit well simply doing normal couple stuff.

There was definitely hints of Fred/Spike subtext *shudders* ~~No man is immune to Fred's charms, remember.

I remember when ATS S2 originally aired I thought they were setting up Fred to be Angel's new love interest. There was so much Frangel in the pylea eps. *ick*

Kinky-Cousin - I'm not going to lie I think it's easier to handle when it ends up happening to my fave (and like yeah they're awesome and hot so I get why everyone could be ). But even then I'm still like eh...another person... wow that's a lot of people. What are they doing? Not everyone has to be in love with her (or him).

Carmen - I thought they were going to go down the Angel/Fred route too. Thank goodness they didn't.
