I loved it too. Most of the fandom seemed to hate it with a passion unfortunately.
Cute scene. I completely forgot the context though. I haven't watched this show in ages. |

Yeah, a lot of people couldn't get over Ross/Rachel.
 The context of the scene was that they both were hiding that they knew that Monica and Chandler were together.  |

I think most of the fandom just enjoyed the show for what it was, but some very vocal people just trashed it because it wasn't what they expected to happen....
It was a great scene, I loved seeing them both freaking out so much & then Phoebe's line was awesome, oh how I wish she was right __________________

I wonder if the vocal hatred influenced the writing. I mean, I never expected them to last. It was imo clear that it was always going to be Rachel/Ross, no matter how much I personally never liked that ship. But I didn't expect Rachel/Joey to be torn down and over in 2 seconds. Why bother to get them together in the first place then?

I don't think it did really. I agree that in the writers mind it wasn't going to be something that would last till the end of the show. But it was like they suddenly realized it was the last season & they were going have to break them up asap

That's a good point. Makes sense if they were running out of time. Wish we had seen them date longer but oh well. At least we got something.

Yeah, it's kinda bittersweet. I am happy that they didn't finally get together & that we got those moments.....but I'm still pissed at the way it ended. They were never really given a chance & the way that they broke up, just.....

I'm happy I sort of got over it and can appreciate their moments together and know in my heart that they were definitely the better fit.

It's been a while so I'm not too bitter either. But it was just super bizarre how they didn't really get to be happy together even for a short while. It's like the minute they actually started the relationship it was all "Ross, Ross, Ross ...we have to break up!" I think the only other time I saw something like that happen to ship was on Gray's Anatomy. It wasn't even a ship I personally liked but I still thought it was terrible to break them up in an ep or two.
On the bright side, I was kinda happy when Joey mentioned that he was in love with her during that spin off of his. |
