They knew Barney and Robin were their bread and butter, without them, the show lasts maybe four seasons. So they played it out and I am just guessing ratings dropped, when they split after a few episodes in season five. I know, I had to stop watching, not because they broke up, but because they acted like they never dated. It was weird. I would check in periodically. I would also check spoilers, that's why I knew when to tune back in. There are still come episodes to this day, I have yet to see. But they used them, to keep their show on the air, then reward the fans with a bait and switch.

That's why I celebrated, when their follow up show got canceled from CBS. Even before they shot the pilot. As far as I know.

so much this. I binged the show in a couple of weeks so I never stopped watching but it was clear that they were writing towards BR and that BR were hands down the most popular ship.

there's a thing where if you donate to a children's hospital, you get entered to be able to win drinks with Neil, Cobie, Carter and Craig. I feel like they know that people will donate to see Neil and Cobie because everyone loves them. I mean it would make sense to get Josh since he's the star. but then again, Josh may have not wanted to do it or Jason or Alyson. but still, they're using BR to to get people to do stuff.

how do you guys feel about Neil saying that BR weren't meant to be and that he likes the finale, it bothers me a bit since Neil was so hardcore BR when they show was on. Cobie hasn't really changed her stance, even as recent as 2017, she's said she would have liked BR to end up together.

Not a fan of Neil says tbh, partly because I can't see how an actor can like their character's development getting thrown out the window for an planned ending that stopped making sense seasons ago.

I don’t believe Neil’s defense of the finale, tbh. The one you are talking about, came out a little after the finale, right? I think he was trying to calm the fans down who were upset at the train wreck that was the finale. Maybe, at the request of CC?

I don’t think he could have come out and said the finale sucked, though. It would have been unprofessional to say that the writing was bad. But a lot of what he has said before and after has indicated that he loved Robin and Barney. I just can’t see him liking how that ended.
