I remember when James and Sophia started dating in real life and Chad told everyone on TV

Brathan should have happened around the time of Haley's exit. I wanted Brooke to go around to visit Nathan and comfort him over the shared experience of a broken heart

Would have been interesting to see at that point, but at the same time I would changed how they wrote that Haley storyline in S2.

I actually thought Haley's story line made sense. Even Joy addressed it in the Season 1 commentary - Nathan and Haley rushed into marriage at an age they weren't ready for and at a point when they didn't really know each other.

It sucked to see Nathan miserable, but some of James' best acting came out in those S2 scenes after Haley leaves for the tour.

Would have loved to see him bond with Brooke in the aftermath and see them 'heal' each other.

That's definitely true, but at the same time I'm not 100% sure whether I would have had Naley get married that soon if I was running the show.

Oh I definitely agree with that

Also, I found it incredibly awkward because it made a mockery of the episode before that when Nate had literally been caught by Haley with a laptop full of personal (pornographic) photos of Peyton. It showed that he's not ready to let go of his past / the person he used to be.

They matured Nathan too quickly on the show. I think that's why I shifted my attentions to Lucas/Brooke. They had a believable relationship that didn't need to rush in order to have impact. I always thought the more interesting love triangle would have been Brucas and Brathan combined

It was pretty obvious that the Naley marriage was an last minute decision and wasn't something they had been planning throughout the season.

I think most of us feel that would have been the most perfect time for it to happen.
