Michael Caine is just so spot-on and perfect in that moment it kills me. I want to just hug Alfred and Bruce and make it all okay.

I wonder if Alfred wouldn't have burnt Rachel's letter and let Bruce read Rachel's words for himself, if Bruce would've been a shut-in for 8 years. Sure he would've blamed himself for Rachel's death but I'm not sure he would've stopped... living like he did. TBH, even when I saw TDK, I thought that Alfred shouldn't have burnt the letter.

I'm just glad that in the end

Same, I always thought that Alfred should have given Bruce the letter. And I feel like he wouldn't have shut himself in for that long of a time if Alfred had.

Alfred's speech was beautiful and I love how so much of what he said was simply foreshadowing. The ending was absolutely perfect.
