This one I just posted has been circling since the day I first heard that Hozier song, and someone prompted me "figs and flowers" earlier in the week and just made it click into place for CornPorn. So I wrote it yesterday and it's only short but I feel as if I have exorcised myself of that damn gorgeous song so I love it. Hopefully SparrowHawke does too Now I might have to look at that Undone sequel for you next

(Right after The Takedown. Or at least a new chap thereof ... it is on my list )
Yay!

I'm super excited to hear about a new chapter of Takedown and the Undone continuation! It's all birthday IMO.

Yes, the one you mentioned with naughty/seductive Charlie and General Monroe will be a ton of fun. Just post when you can, although CornPorn (still makes me giggle) is a great time to start... Plus your title for it is awesome. Can't wait to read all your new stuff!

Mistletoe by Driver Picks The Music #1:

This is very sweet! I always love AU fics where Danny is a computer nerd and also is Charlie’s confidante when it comes to her crush on Bass. (Which: of course she’s had a crush on Bass since she was 10, who wouldn’t?) I also like just the subtle hints of Bass having feelings for Charlie starting. And those two. Always finding each other standing under some mistletoe. Of course Bass just happened to come stand next to Charlie underneath it… we’re onto you, Bass, you’re not slick. Love the last scene of him writing her an email, no a text, no an email and trying to convince himself it’s not a big deal. I think we’ve all been there.

Mistletoe by Driver Picks The Music #2:

I love that Charlie keeps a journal, and that Miles is really good at giving gifts. Of course he would be, even though he likes to act like he doesn’t care about anything, his extremely good powers of observation and creative strategic thinking would totally give him awesome gift-giving skills. And I smiled at Miles rolling his eyes at Charlie’s description of the plot of Emma. Hey, Miles, you’re the one who gave it to her!

Oh, damn, Charlie gives Bass her journal – as a journal-keeper, I think this is a very serious present. And Bass’ proposal is absolutely perfect, not over-the-top emotional, but very in character for him. And I like that he asked Miles for permission… because he secretly knows that Charlie is Miles’ kid? Either way, it works. Nice bookend to the previous story.

Reindeer and a Bonfire by Loveforthestory:

I like the first chapter of this. Someone in the comments pointed out that most holiday stories are AU, which is true. I think it’s hard to picture what the holidays would look like after the Blackout, and Love does a good job here of making it realistic and still festive. I love the image of Charlie and Bass together next to a dwindling fire, talking about all that has happened between them and her coaxing Miles stories out of him. And the story about her childhood and the reindeer was so sweet. I also like Bass thinking that her way of thanking him after he saved her in Pottsboro was another attempt on his life – I never thought of it that way, but he’s absolutely right. Poor Bass. Everyone just always trying to kill him all the time, no matter how hard he tries.

In Chapter 2, I like Bass’ introspection on the various aspects of his and Charlie’s relationship. I like the allusion to her sleeping with Connor, it’s always interesting to read Bass’ internal dialogue on that. And other small Charloe moments in the show being brought up is very enjoyable. I love their wordless communication when he comes up to her room, sigh. And the smut is hot, as it always is when Love is writing. The conclusion six years into the future is great, too. It’s nice to see the current family and what has changed vs. stayed the same, as well as their remembering their dead and, as Love says, keeping their memories alive through their stories. A really nice holiday story with a great progression and ending.

O Hush the noise, ye men of strife, and hear the angels sing:

Aww, I love established Charloe. This story is so sweet, it has a perfect holiday tone. I love the image of Bass and Charlie sharing a cup of tea and watching the snow. It’s nice to think that Charlie may have found a photo of Bass and his sisters at her grandparents’ house because it also included her and Miles. This is a very nice little scene, sometimes it’s nice to have relatively angst-free Blackoutverse Charloe. But you know it’s Blackout because Bass is still creeping around with his trusty sword.

You're up, LadyH!
Thank you all again for all the lovely Birthday wishes and all the gorgeous Bass/David Lyons on Twitter today…Jaq you are a doll. I will be reading that before I go to sleep tonight, and a sequel to “Undone” and more of “Takedown” I may be in heaven.
On a totally unrelated, but hilarious topic that has nothing to do with BC I just gave my dog a snausage, and for those of you who don’t know this about me I also have 5 cats (I swear I’m not the crazy cat lady) my poor dog Cody was surrounded on all sides by my cats the poor dog can’t even have a treat in peace. Lol

My spacing might be a little weird tonight I typed my notes in an email at work today and sent them to myself, and it looks a little weird in word so we’ll see what it looks like on the forum.

Mistletoe
By: DriverPicksTheMusic (AKA RandiPandi88)

Oh dear Randi what can I say about this wonderful fluffy look at what finally made Bass look at Charlie as more than just a kid…I loved that little feeling he got when she finally got to the house, and how he tried to brush it off. Plus we get Danny, and I love how he is trying to get Charlie to take a chance and I get a kick out of her response…
“Oh yeah, I'm going to march down there and drag him under the mistletoe and kiss him senseless and tell him how I've been in love with him since I was ten years old." She said. "That'll go over well and wouldn't blow up in my face at all."Thanks to some well-placed mistletoe Bass and Charlie shared a very sweet kiss, but what that kiss did to Bass was perfect, and Danny the little trickster noticed. I seriously got a good laugh out of Bass going back and forth about emailing her or texting her…poor guy didn’t know what to do. Lol

Bottom line Randi you have a knack for cute and fluffy Charloe, and this couldn’t have been any sweeter, but we have also witnessed your naughtier side too and I enjoy that very much too.

Mistletoe Part 2
By: DriverPicksTheMusic (AKA RandiPandi88)

Have I told you how much I adore your Danny?? He is awesome…he wanted Bass and Charlie together so much he rigged some mistletoe to try and give Bass a shove in the right direction. Miles is such a softy when it comes to Charlie I’m so glad he finally came around even if he still rolls his eyes at all of their cuteness. Danny strikes again with the mistletoe I loved it.

There are a handful of Charloe fics out there that I am actually ok with Rachel, and I think you did a good job with her in this series. Her and Charlie had a good relationship and Rachel actually seemed like a good mom.

I loved that Charlie trusts Bass so completely that she gave him her journal to read because that is like opening your soul up to someone. To trust someone so completely is a rare gift. Bass couldn’t have picked a more perfect day to ask Charlie to marry him…exactly one year after they shared their first kiss under the mistletoe *sigh* and asking Miles for his blessing because he has been like a dad to Charlie was like icing on the cake.

Clapping over here because I just seriously love this whole series. I know I said the same thing last week, but I don’t think I can say it enough.

O Hush the Noise Ye Men of Strive, and Hear the Angels Sing
By: hayj

I could read this little fic over and over again. It makes me all warm and fuzzy every time I read it. I love the image of Charlie holding her hand out to Bass pulling him towards her to sit down next to her, but then never letting go of his hand. They are connected by so many things, and they truly know how the other feels because they have both lost so much. I just love the thought of them sitting together, holding hands just watching the snow fall peacefully to the ground talking about the ones they have lost. Bass pulling Charlie close and gently kissing the top of her head. It is so hard to believe that there are so many emotions fluttering through this tiny little fic, but when she gives Bass the photo of him and his sisters with her and Miles it really is breathtaking. His thank you to her at the end and Charlie kissing Bass ever so gently it’s perfection. They share such an intimate moment with each other….I loved it!!!

Reindeer and a Bonfire
By: Loveforthestory

First let me just say I love, Love…she is a truly dedicated Charloe/Revolution fan, and what makes her even more amazing is the fact that English is not her first language. Love has written so many wonderful stories for the fandom.

Chapter 1

I adore the story about Charlie and her wanting a reindeer for Christmas. I love how they are all just sitting around the bonfire telling stories and sharing memories, or in Charlie’s case reclaiming memories from her childhood. It was extremely cute when she was telling Bass the names of the reindeer little Charlie was so excited. It was sweet how Bass saw the look on her face and quickly rescued her from any more stories Miles might have had in mind.

I think I’m just a sucker for Bass’ softer side because I find it so adorable that he grabbed the last piece of pie and took it to Charlie…of course he had to get as close as possible to give it to her. By the end of the night it ended up being just the two of them just the way we like it. I like how she brings up their time on the road, and that she wants him to stay and be on the same side. I really enjoyed their talk it really showed how far they had come since first meeting on the road and heading back to Willoughby.

I guess Christmas is a magical time of year when Charlie kissed him on the cheek it was so sweet and honest, and it made Bass feel special.

Chapter 2

You just have to love hot, yummy Charloe sex, but she is good at always making sure it’s more than that. The trust they have in each other is always there and I really like that. I loved getting the time jump in the 2nd part of this chapter because I am a sucker for a good happy ending, and this was really sappy good. I really loved that they were married by the bridge where she first brought Miles to him. They have come full circle and I liked that. Plus what’s not to love about little baby Charloe’s running around…a little girl already and another on the way. Their famiy is all there with them it’s just perfectly happy.
Thessie my darling you are up…

Happy Birthday again LadyH, my fellow Scorpio! Mine is next Tuesday, so not sure I'll be on group that night, maybe later...

Finnie, I'm also excited to read this fic you keep mentioning...

Mistletoe - DriverPicksTheMusic
I love Randi's series, so this was a lot of fun to get to read. It's a sweet little fluffy fic, and it's great to get the background to the Charloe we saw in 'Red Camaro'. There are little clues, that there's more between the two of them than just friendship and I adore how they call each other by their first names. This grouping of Mathesons + Bass is quite lovely to read and Charlie's relationship with her brother is wonderful. The mistletoe was a nice touch...wonder if Charlie or Danny hung it there. Bass was sweet just going in for a simple kiss on the cheek, but I love Charlie reciprocating, and the state of confusion he was lost in. The end was great with Bass psyching himself out of it before finally starting an email to her. I really liked this one!

Mistletoe Part 2 - DriverPicksTheMusic
This was another fun little read Randi! I loved getting to see the differences between where they were previously and how they are now. Charloe's so sweet together, so fluffy, it's making my teeth ache! Great for Christmas, and so nice they got to do that first couple Christmas alone together. Bass's proposal was so wonderful! He was nervous, but so honest and loving. And of course she said yes -- she'd have been crazy not to. It's also very real and sweet to ask Miles for permission -- really shows their friendship and shows how much Bass respects Miles's place in her life. Their banter at the end was adorable. Another fluffy, awesome story Randi!

Reindeer and a Bonfire - Loveforthestory
I think Love is extremely brave to post fic in a language that is not her native one. It does take a bit of getting used to, but I always enjoy her stories. This is quite a good fic. I like the growing camraderie/competition between all the guys trying to figure out the best way to light a bonfire...oh men. It's nice to see everyone getting along and being able to celebrate together. I loved the story about little Charlie wanting to get/see a reindeer for Christmas -- completely adorable, and I love that Bass was there with Miles to make that happen for her. Charlie asking Bass if they could still be on the same side now that the war was over was great. I'm glad they had the conversation about Charlie getting Rachel to save Bass's life and her reasons behind doing so. I would have loved to get that onscreen. Charlie kissing his cheek, going for it, was all kinds of great -- really liked her taking the iniatitive.

I liked getting Bass's thoughts on that kiss and on Charlie herself. Interesting that he's been sticking around all this time, not just for Miles, but also for Charlie. I love their confusion and tension and both wanting something from the other, and then Bass just makes the decision for them showing up at her bedroom. The smut was awesome, Love always writes super hot scenes, laden with all the emotions, and she didn't let us down here. Bass making the decision that he would stay with her always, was lovely. The time jump seemed a bit odd, but I love where it took us. Even though I don't care much for the characters of Rachel and Connor, it's nice to see everyone including them find ways to be happy. The scene at the end with Charloe and their daughter was beautiful -- a family is what they both want more than anything. We're finding all sorts of info out here in this last section, Miles's reaction, Charloe getting married, and another baby on the way. This was such a lovely story, and I really liked it. It's one of my fave stories from Loveforthestory.

O Hush the Noise, Ye Men of Strife, and Hear the Angels Sing - Hayj
This is a sweet little ficlet. I love how tactile Bass is with Charlie and how Charlie still keeps part of that innocence with her childlike wonder at the first snowfall. Charlie shushing him over his guilt was cute and speaks to how far their relationship and comfort levels have come. Their talk about understanding losing family/younger siblings because they're similar is so lovely to read. Bass comforting her about the loss getting better with time was beautiful. Charlie giving the gift of that photo to Bass...ugh! It slays me with how thoughtful she was. Love how it ends with her kissing his jaw. They must be in an already established relationship, but you want more on this, to know how they got here. Either way though, it's a great fic!

Romeo, you're next I believe!

Romeo, you're next I believe!
Before I post, I should mention that I only had time to read two stories this week. I can't believe today's only Tuesday. This week is already kicking my ass! Grrrrr. Anyways...

Mistletoe by Randi - This was short and sweet and a nice precursor to the story we read last week. I must admit, it was a bit weird to see Rachel act all sweet and kind to everyone. Her friendliness with Bass and her worry/care for Charlie when she didn’t come home on time had me side-eyeing Rachel and wondering when the other shoe would drop. And then it didn’t, and I had to remind myself that this Rachel isn’t crazy canonverse!Rachel. Hahaha. But it did make me wonder why, in the story we read last week, Bass said that she was scary? (Or something to that effect, I can’t quite remember.) But then, I haven’t read this whole series, so maybe there’s an explanation on that later?

On an entirely different note, I absolutely ADORE Danny and how he not-so-subtly tries to push Charloe together. The ‘knowing and mischievous little brother’ trope is one I’ve used in my own writing, and I love seeing it make an appearance in other people’s fics. Randi handled it well here.

O Hush the noise, ye men of strife, and hear the angels sing by HayJ - Hay is one of my favorite Charloe writers, and this piece was simplistic and sweet. There’s something super endearing about Charlie, bruised and battered by the harsh blackout world, being captivated by the simple wonder of snow. Sigh. So cute. This one did raise a lot of questions for me — like how did Charloe’s relationship evolve into what we see in this fic? I do wish we had gotten a little more context; would have made the snuggly moment between them that much sweeter, IMO. Regardless, I still enjoyed this, and the moment with the photo was quite lovely and heartwarming.

Up next: my new Brooklyn Nine-Nine buddy, Jaq!

I'm calling it a night. All that caffeine starting to wear off.

LadyH - Happy Birthday one last time tonight and I will text you on Saturday when I get there. I'll let you know before that if plans change for some reason. I'll bring your re-watch prize with me as well.

Tex - You were like an old pro on your first night. So glad you could join us. I hope you plan to stick around. I usually leave early. I have little ones who will demand parenting bright and early. Some of the others are night owls, so you can stay on and chat as long as you want to.

Irish - Everything was basic maintenance check ups, so as far as I know...all is fine. Hope your sweetie is soon feeling all the way better.

Night all. See (some of you) on Sunday night for re-watch.

PS Everyone should go read Jaq's new story. It's pretty wonderful.

OK, not sure about Jaq, although she may be back in a few. I don't want to post over her, but not sure if anyone has to leave soon so I'm going to go ahead and post next week's stories. Lemon has them already posted to the forum for everyone.

Next week, we continue on with our Christmas stories.

In Our Bedroom After the War by hayj. Published 12/4/14. One shot, part of the Good Ship fic exchange and was a present for Banneg.

Show Chapter | Archive of Our Own

A Very Merry New Vegas Christmas by iwilltry_tocarryon. Published 12/11/14. One shot.

A Very Merry New Vegas Christmas. - iwilltry_tocarryon - Revolution (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

It's a Wonderful Life by TwistedType. Published 12/20/14. One shot that was originally her gift for the fic exchange, but she ended up going in a different direction. Luckily, she posted this for us as well.

It's a Wonderful Life - TwistedType - Revolution (TV) [Archive of Our Own]

Alright, hope everyone enjoys!!!

Also, we did have the honorable mention of another Love story from last week. It was called Detour, and while it was too long to read, it was very deserved of at least a mention. It used the old Charlie/Bass get stuck in the snow trope that I love so very well, and Love did a good job with it. Anyway, another thanks to Love for a wonderful story that was from a prompt I had suggested for the Good Ship site.

Jaq, feel free to post whenever you are ready.

Well while it's quiet, I just want to say how awesome you all are. Thank you so much for all the very kind comments. I have had so much fun writing this series (and planning more stories for it) and I'm so glad that you have enjoyed my fluffy Charloe goodness too.

The Rachel scary-ness is mentioned again, but not really expanded on much. She's basically still like a mad scientist...lol...and Bass knows this and finds her and her knowledge intimidating. That's really what it all boils down to.

Goodnight Lemon

G'night, Lemon! Talk to you on Sunday, if not sooner.

G'night to Irish as well! Have a great rest of your week, and see you at rewatch.

Lemon, good night. Hope you and LadyH have a great time on Saturday.

I am off to bed too. My eyes are starting to drift close. Night all. Sorry for the radio silence most of the night. My niece came in and hijacked me one more time for games and music time and then I was working on some other stuff. I need more hours in the days or another couple days in a week. Something.

Have a fabulous week everyone.
