For a character who's such a symbol of "hope", she certain had none after Aragorn died.

I know ! Some symbol of hope she was! I know it hurts to lose a loved one(I lost my father to cancer a few years ago),but that doesn't mean life is over! She had her children and probably grandchildren.Yet she tossed them aside!

I ADORE those quotes! The second one is a personal favorite! I really love these lines:

He is clearly thinking of her when he replies! He thinks of her as high and excellent and doesn't want her to keep on living the hopeless life she is living.It ties into his later speech to her when he says that he has wished her joy since he first met her.He loves her.

That scene is pure love. Eowyn's "cage" speech is the best thing ever. And then Aragorn's "You're a daughter of Kings. A Shieldmaiden of Rohan. I do not think that will be your fate."

I ADORE that speech! It was one of the most beautifully written! It had that lovely mix of poetry and prose which Tolkien did so well! And Aragorn's response was so ...perfect! The basic translation of his words would be that he thinks she's too strong to ever waste away like that.It also acts as a very interesting contrast with Arwen in "Tale".While Eowyn will never and did never allow herself to become useless and waste away,Arwen did! It's another BIG,canon example of how much better Eowyn is for Aragorn.

I completely agree with all the points that you guys have made. There is no evidence in the books OR movie that show that Aragorn and Arwen are right for each other, whereas everything points to Eowyn being an almost perfect lover for Aragorn. What a shame.

We are a minority I'm afraid. But,at least we have each other and our own thread now! We may be a minority,but that dioesn't mean we're wrong in our preference of ship.
