I do think Francis will give Bash an order, but it's not going to be about watching the consummation. It'll be about getting the hell out of the castle! (And hopefully that happens before the wedding?)

I'm glad no one's taking trollsiello seriously, because it's so dumb. He gave himself away with the word "reaffirming." It means we'll get more of the same-- Mary forcing herself to keep up her plan until she's no longer forced to do so.

Quick roundup from the last thread. If the parents on either/both sides attend this, then, yes, bring on the awkwardness in spades.

I'm getting some twisted flashbacks of The Borgias with that and if you saw that you'll understand what I mean. But, IA with Bree and Amy; I can't imagine Francis doing that, if he had control of those who attended, particularly taking Mary into consideration as well as taking his own feelings into consideration.

I'm mildly curious about what his parting shot will be. Weeping in his bed? Wandering into the Blood Wood?

I dont think her mother would be it, just because I don't think women were supposed to be witnesses. I think besides the LIW, the witnesses were a bunch of old men..going from Elizabeth's wedding in the pilot if my memory doesn't fail me. I thought maybe Mary's uncle, as a representative from Scotland but idk. If Queens were allowed though, I can def see her being creeped out by Catherine for a bit there.

I agree with Bree that having your best friends+that one girl-code breaking betraying miss watching will definitely make her uncomfortable, but I didn't think so because it seems they are referring to just the one person. So it couldnt be all 3 LiW.

What about King Henry himself? after all, she has a showdown with him earlier the episode, and goes "I will not be bullied by you" and at the end he ends up watching her have sex? that's just a tad humiliating in my book. Right now, I'm gonna put my money on Henry.

I seriously underestimated Nost. Never had him pegged for getting some action and in that way, lol.

Now, for those who have background or knowledge of public consummations, my writing thus far has never led me to research public consummations of the time. I've read about certain ones, but I've never done any real reading on the norms at the time and how they might have varied from country to country or culture to culture. Are there features that go across the board, transcending country/culture? Or are there things that would occur in, let's say, an English or Spanish royal consummation that won't occur in French royal consummation? Not that the show would stick to any of that, lol, but I'm curious.

Why would Francis want to allow Bash - who has coveted the woman Francis loves, and is now married to - to see Mary either only partially clothed or naked? That makes ZERO sense. If Bash sees anything it will be like Mary & the LiW in the pilot.

I promised 9 & 13 comparisons or my thoughts on how the two episodes are mirrors once I posted Gambit. Having done so, keeping other promise.

So I posted that ages ago and structrally I think it's still sound. It's not my larger expansion of the BoP theory, it was my first stab at trying to make sense of what was happening and where we were heading. Having written the pertinent chapters of Gambit something came to me as I woke this morning. I put that 9 & 13 will both be transition episodes, and this is true. Bit I also think they're going to mirror one another, just like we've seen so many mirror or || scenes through the arc, with Mary's happiness or not, dissatisfaction or not! etc., etc?! being the focal points.

Mary & Bash return, Francis & Lola return

First meeting scenes - same location, large corridor at front of chateau. 9, Francis vulnerable, Mary wary. 13, Francis wary, Mary vulnerable.

Catherine & Francis. Catherine urged Francis to let Mary go, really cast aspersions to Mary's character in 9, and telling him to get over his love for her. Francis stood strong in his belief of their love. Here, opposite. Catherine urging him to believe in his and Mary's love, that she KNOWS - last moment between Mary & Catherine last episode - that Mary still loves Francis and wants to marry him, not Bash. Francis the disbeliever in their love anymore.

The lets just get married scene, but this time it's not MF, it's MB with a Bash urging marriage ASAP. Francis urged Mary out of the rabbit hole, to see reason and not give into mysticism. Because of this I'm now sure that Bash is going to urge her further down the rabbit hole, playing on her fears for Francis's life because she's so scared of him being killed with her as the cause. First one she says no, second yes.

Dungeon fight, clearly the graveyard fight is its mirror. The interesting thing here is Francis is uninformed and wrong about Bash in the first scene. He thinks he's a party to what's happening. Graveyard he's going to be right. It's not like we haven't seen Bash's manipulations & deceptions of Mary through these last three episodes, particularly the last two. This scene I think marks the transition to Mary climbing out of the rabbit hole or back through the AU window. This is where Francis tells Mary he'll never forgive her, and where he'll now tell her he will, I think. Or that he loves her still, despite everything.

Catherine & Mary. Stay strong, "He's relentless in his love for you." Here Catherine urges Mary to dive down the rabbit hole, or crash through the window, so to speak. There's going to be a scene now with the ultimate true believer Catherine urging, or giving Mary encouragement, to now do the opposite.

Francis concedes, which makes me 100% sure that Bash will not, leading to him being told or urged to leave by Francis, who I think will be backed up by Henry. Francis sees there's no getting through to Mary, he loves her, but he can't stay around and watch what she's going to do, or support it. Bash gives it one last go with Mary trying to get her to see things his way, we might get an ILY here, and Mary, because she's back to herself by this time tries to let him down easy.

Also, other scenes. I think the throne room scenes will be Mary-Marie-Henry this time, with Marie urging the setting things back to rights. Also there's gotta be a Marie/Catherine scene in here somewhere, not sure what it will relate to. I love 9 but I haven't been able to rewatch since it aired.

Obviously it won't be the exact same, since we have to fit in the wedding and consummation, but those could be taking up the time that the RToC was used for. Or maybe that's where the Catherine beheading stuff fits? Maybe the wedding stuff fits into the time of the plotting to kill and actually trying to kill Mary & Bash by Catherine.

I think I'll read your update of Gambit tomorrow night when I will want to be on here, and won't be allowing that. So in a way I'll be reading it, despite it not being exactly the real thing...if I can't watch it. (do I even make sense?)
