I can't...

I think if Ted would've went for it, he could've gotten back together with Emmett. But I believe he felt too guilty to try.

Emmett could never have felt the same after Ted's addiction fiasco...at least as a romantic partner. Plus...I didn't take Ted as a particularly romantic person. I was just glad that they reconciled their friendship.

I agree - after the addiction there was no way they could get back together. I think he had wrecked what they had in the romantic sense. It was good they could even become friends again after that.

I'm so glad they were able to reconcile the friendship, too.

But I think Emmett even voices that he wishes things had worked out with Teddy, as does Ted at Michael's wedding. Even at the series finale, it's painfully obvious Emmett's jealous of Blake.

Maybe it wouldn't have actually worked out, but there were unresolved longings, for sure.

Yeah I can see that - it's just s shame that it all worked out the way it did. Even to be his friend took a lot of time and forgiveness from Emmett.

I was so sad that they broke up, but Ted had become a toxic lover to Emmett and Emmett had to walk away. It took a lot for him to do it -- he should have done it earlier (after Ted physically assaulted him in the kitchen), but he left because he had to. And the scene where Ted tries to apologize was sad too. Ted knew what he lost: his best friend and his lover.

I was glad they reconciled as friends, but would have liked to see them together. It was realistic that they remained only friends though, with a yearning as to "what might have been."

I totally agree. It was best for Emmett's health and safety to leave, and in reality he probably should've left much sooner. He was the only one who stuck by Ted but Ted just drove him further and further away and got increasingly vicious. And yes, Emmett not wanting to listen to his apology is heartbreaking, but probably deserved.

I agree!! I'd love for them to have gotten back together, but so much damage had been done.

Emmett litterally made his heart to stone hen it came to Ted.. and he did it to keep himslef from hurting even more.. it took again Brian to talk some sense int him, like before.. Emmett seemed to always go for the extreme when it came to Ted

I didn't analyse Emmett that much here, but I know people can stay really long in toxic relationship. The question is if it would be more realistic to Em character to leave him sooner.

He had to. He tried his hardest to bring Teddy back to the light, but he just couldn't do it. Ted would have to do that for himself...and clearly, he didn't want to. And I'm so glad Brian had that moment with him in Babylon.

Emmett didn't fall in love very often but when he did fall in love, he fell hard... just like Ted. Everything he did was a testament to the magnitude of that love and he was so passionate about what he had with Ted. That's what makes breaking up 10x worse. The harder you fall, the nastier the split will be. Because when it's good, it's soooooo GOOD, but when it's bad, it's even worse. I find this to be true for them.

They did have that kind of connection where they both fell fast and hard, and it was red hot and intense and passionate, but it fizzled out quickly—or more accurately, was murdered.

It's sad but for some stories it's so true.

It was so much easier when they were strictly friends, nothing more.
