I admire him so much for that. Even during the ride when he was so hurt, he did not give up. (Even though he was an idiot for trying to show off in the first place). No matter how long it took, he did it and Michael was such a good friend for staying with him. When they finally made it across the finish line into the arms of their friends and lovers—so great.
Brian never was a quitter. he had to fight his whole life to get there were he was .. so that probably helped him a lot to fight his sickness... and to hear that he was getting older only stirred that need to proof that this wasn't true at all.. so he started going to the gym way too early.. I really felt sorry for him when he had to admit to himslef he couldn'T make it through a whole class.., but when everybody gave up on him, he fighted even harder..

I was wondering about two things.. 1st: did he really think Justin wouldn't notice that he left the bed, and even the loft (which btw is ridiculous with that loud door ) without noticing? But I really was proud that Justin understood Brians need to do it, and helps him there
2nd: are gyms open all night long for just one or two special guests, power and lights included, or do you think he paied extra for going there?

Brian riding alone with all his flashes ( I love Justin cheering him on ) I think he again was fighting his own demons there.. he was too stubborn to let go, that's why he probably saw himself with such a disapointed face mocking himself that he never would make it to the end.. the only reason he did continue even with a broken collar bone, wsa to proof to himslef that he will survive and not give up, whatever would come. Michal really was a true friend here. once he realized how important that whole thing was for Brian, he stood by his side till the end. Honestly, I would have started a searching party if I was Ben or Debbie, but knowing that Michale was with Brian, and he didn't call in for an emergency made them relax a bit. And Justin was so concerned when he saw Brian so exhausted coing around the corner. I was happy that he let him finish his ride, even if he almost didn't make it.

What I alos loved was the scene were they named the Vic Grassi house. Debbie knew exactly who did it, and she was proud of Brian.

It was just very sad, that, when Brian finally asked Justin to move in with him officially, Justin told him that he was going to LA for a longer time.. it was a huge step for Brian to do so, and again he was proofed to do the wrong thing (in his mind of course) when Justin said he would leave the country instead.. it explains a little of his following behaviour, so see you over in season 5

although I hope we still discuss the other seasons further

LOL Brian attempted to be sneaky. Like of course Justin is gonna hear you. I thought the same thing about the gym. But knowing Brian, he probably paid them off. Or, it's TV and you have to pretend it's realistic

Yes!! But I think everyone knew how important it was to Brian that he finished it and on his own so I'm happy they let him.

I agree about Shanda Leer. She made such perfect interlude between each scene. Sick to my stomach over what happened to Darren, though. That scene is just horrific.

Sam Aurebach Storyline:
Where do I begin? He was such a pig. He treated women like his sexual objects and his servants. You can tell it did not sit very well with Lindsay. When he stepped off the latter and smacked that girl on her backside, as if saying "You've been my good little helper. Now run along "... Sam was gross. He was also a homewrecker. He knew that Lindsay was married.. he saw her pregnant wife. Do you think that was going to stop him? I know artists are intellectuals whose IQs are so high, they exhibit eccentric behavior, but I draw the line somewhere. Lindsay shouldn't have acted on her desires. Easier said then done, I know, but control is key. No, but Lindsay was obviously having a sexual identity crisis during this time. There's a side of her she repressed for a long time, and it came back with a vengeance.

Vic's Demise:
Losing Vic was one of the most depressing things about season 4, and up to this point, Season 4 had been progressing very nicely. There's something so tragic about having a falling out with someone that you'll never see again. Debbie was just so angry at him for all the wrong reasons, she was being completely selfish about everything. Her being upset over Vic getting a life violates all logic for why she nursed him back to good health in the first place. It undermines all that she's helped him to be. Little did she know that death would soon drive a wedge between them forever. You never know what's around the corner, which is why you ALWAYS have to make things right while you still can.

Brian's Cancer: Yet another depressing event that came about this season. Maybe it's a good thing Brian was prowling the backrooms during this time because if he wasn't, he probably wouldn't have found out about the lump. Which is a scary thought. Am I the only one who felt Brian's hesitation in going through with the chemo/surgery? I felt he was weighing all his choices, whether to live or die young, leaving Justin, his family and friends, and son, behind. I can imagine that was a very morbid decision to have made. There's a part of him who thought about not fighting, but he ultimately decided that was not happening and fought it off. He must have felt so lonely and isolated from the world during this time, as I'm sure many cancer patients do... the only difference is, he was pushing everyone away. Brian did not want anyone to see him like that, especially Justin. He thought because he was sick that the image he's established in public would be tarnished and he would no longer appear perfect. Sad when you think about it, because that is pretty much the only type of value he sees within himself: being perfect all the time. Well, when you're human, you can't be perfect all the time. I'm glad Justin didn't give up on Brian like Brian was suspecting he would do. Once again, he proved Brian wrong.

Ted / Emmett / Blake: I believe Ted when he says that he wouldn't have survived without Blake's help. Sure, that selling him short, but he was in a really terrible place. I don't know, before Blake came back in the picture, Ted must have been feeling a tremendous amount of hopelessness. Blake, by offering up his support, positivity, and optimism, he definitely accelerated the recovery process. Like a guardian angel, he stayed around for as long as necessary to ensure safety & security came his way, then he was out. Also, you can tell that the love they had never really went away, though. It was bound to turn sexual once again. The counselor sleeping with the patient is never a good look, and Blake jeopardized his job, but something tells me they couldn't have stopped this even they'd wanted to. The sexual/emotional attention was felt throughout their arc, until the end of it.

I can imagine all of this was like a slap in the face to Emmett, though. He was so hurt because up until this time, they'd been in a relationship. And for Blake to have just popped up out of nowhere to console him, it must have felt soul-crushing to be passed over like that. I know Ted was hurting, but damn, he treated Emmett so badly. It almost wrecked Emmett's friendship with Michael too.

Emmett and Drew:
I like how their relationship begins. Emmett was having none of those "straight" male hangups purported onto him, and he was NOT about to be disrespected. He defended himself and Darren very well, and I'm glad he stood up to Drew. Yeah, but who would have known that Emmett taking a stand against him would lead to such a passionate fling? I mean, WOW I like how it begins with Emmett teaching him about manners, having it explode into this hot and heavy, physical thing, then slowly morphing into an emotional connection. After getting out of a relationship with Ted, it's just what he needed, to be honest.

Sam was totally gross. I mean, I get that Lindsay was having a sexuality crisis but you had to go and pick someone that bad to do it with?! Not that she should have done anything because she was married with a pregnant wife and she knew how horrible it was to be cheated on. Still--horrible choice.

So true!! Yet unfortunately this is not at the forefront of everyone's mind and we as humans tend to screw up anyways.

To think that Brian (and anyone who's ever thought this) thought about not fighting scares me. How could anyone not want to live? I know he had this whole dying young and perfect and beautiful complex but at what cost? Think of all the people you're going to leave behind. Which, like you said, is why he ended up fighting. And good that he was proven wrong that people were going to leave him. Because they wouldn't, especially Justin.

I agree. Emmett must have felt like he was nothing after all of this. But I'm glad it all worked out for the better.

Emmett and Drew's first fling was just Insane and hot!!

Sam Auerbach... I don't know.. he was kind of gross, but he sure had charisma, and I could see why Linds was drawn to him after she told him off.. he stroked her artist ego a lot.. and do we really know that nothing appened between them??

I don't understand what you mean here Daggi sorry

I thought Sam was gross and I can not understand why Lindsay would have an affair with him - eewwww.

I was surprised by Vic's death when I was watching it because I had no idea it was coming and I was like wait what? It was sad that Debbie had no chance to make it better between them and then she tried all these things after he was gone to make it better. That was sad too. It wa nice they named it Vic Grassi house

I liked Justin helping Brian with his training That was hot and I can see why that would help Brian to keep riding with Justin doing that in front of him Here in Australia they have gyms open 24 hours a day now so I didn't think anything of Brian being there in the early hours of the morning but I guess 17 years ago we probably didn't

Brian's cancer - again Justin was there for him Justin truly loved Brian no matter what and it seemed that Brian was finally getting it a bit I loved how Brian saw him on the side of the road on the bike ride too - he imagined that Justin was there to cheer him on - and also Justin was there for him at the end so love that

Not a fan of Drew really sorry. Just didn't feel the chemistry between them really and he seemed sort of one dimensional or stilted a lot - just not one of my favs

Lindsay and Melanie often drive me crazy - especially the way Melanie reacts to the affair - she had one too - she wasn't innocent at all. And they way they treated Michael with all the contracts and everything at first was nasty as well. They know what Michael is like and who he is and man they carried on.

I'm not the biggest fan of Michael but he did do some good things this season like agreeing to help Melanie with the baby and supporting Brian on the bike ride - that was so special

I liked the whole bike ride storyline actually. The wedding and the Toronto stuff and similarities and the wedding party Brian organised and Ted and Emmett doing the meeting together - still such good friends getting back to what they were

There was some ups and downs for sure in this season but I like remembering the good stuff like the bike ride and Justin being so hot

Yeah I really thought this season was the one that brought everyone back together. Until season five decided to mess it all up again lol.

I don't understand why Lindsay and Melanie were made to have so many problems. They were good together but at the same time, they were really messed up? You've been together for ten years and this is where you are?!

I really loved the bike ride story line too. It was different and fun but also had some great deep moments along the way.

exactly ! I think it was drama for the sake of drama sometimes. Ever notice how many affairs people had on this show?

Exactly what I am trying to say
And when Brian said he thought about Justin and wanted to move in and should he make room in his drawers for his drawers - swoon oh and how he says I wouldn't mind if you were here the times that you're not -

YES That was the closest he ever got to admitting his feelings but for Brian to say that, it means a lot.
