Showtime orders pilot for third gay series

Showtime, the network of cult hits "Queer as Folk" and "The L Word," has ordered a pilot titled "Movies for Guys Who Like Guys," to be hosted by E! Entertainment Television alum Steve Kmetko, say Hollywood insiders.

No comment from Showtime or Kmetko.

"Guys" will feature a panel of four gay men, including Kmetko, who will discuss a gay-themed or campy feature film before, during and after it runs that night on Showtime, sources say.

One of the quartet is expected to be a porn star, they say. No names yet.

Unlike Comedy Central/Sci Fi Channel's late, great "Mystery Science Theater 3000," the "Guys" guys won't yak in voice-overs while the flick is actually running.

Their comments will take place during "natural breaks" in the movie. That may be tricky, given that Showtime is a premium cable channel and has no commercials.

Movies will include such camp classics as "Mommie Dearest," "Saturday Night Fever," and anything with Joan Crawford. Among the gay staples: "Personal Best;" "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert;" and "Making Love."

"Guys" is being designed for 11 p.m. Sundays as a late-night companion to the 10 p.m. "Queer as Folk," which launches its fourth season April 18.

I just watched the season 3 after watching he first and second, QaF marathon gotta love those! lol

And man what the hell is this season! Is the theme "rush into things to get them weird"

So as for season 3 and what would be cool for season 4:
Firt thing:
The ethan/Justin thing was so useless ad Brian and Justin got back together so quickly it was just weird, I didnt get where the hell they where now so hope in season 4 its gonna be cleared up.

The Emmet/Ted thing is the most ridiculous thing Ive ever seen! How the hell did they get together and why, that Ill never know. It appeared suddenly from nowhere and in two minutes they were like married, I hope that wont last in the forth season.

Ted the junky, didnt see that coming either, the relation between the charaters became suddenly different and it had been badly developed. Though Im glad to see Blake will maybe return coz as much as I found his character useless before its kindda nice now in all this craziness to find something from season 1 (the best season so far)

Micheal/Ben, too perfect, maybe needs to put some spice in there.
The plot with the kid is just so out of character that I dont even see where that could go, the end especially.

But thank god there were the girls Mel/Linds and Debbie who were normal and had normal plots, hope it stands. I love the relation between Deb and that cop.

Love Vic and the perspective his perso had in the S2, a little less in S3 hope it stands too. And well since Ive seen a promo of S4 I think I cant hope anymore that the show will be a little less about "us Vs them" coz apparently it will be again the motto of S4 like it was in the not bad but a little too much plot in S3 (Stockwell the evil chief who closes all the places where gay people fcuk could be real but again the symbolism they tried to make was just useless)

The best for the end, Brian, when did he become such a do gooder? I never mind this side of him who would kick people down and then give a hand to get them on their feet, it even was why he's so cool, but not THAT much. So the guy is now out of a job, poor and officially the hero of the show, it's just too much and man its gross! I love evil, I need evil!! Where the hell did the "there's nothing noble being poor" go?!! I think Ive lost all respect for him Well most of it...

So please let be the season 4 better than the 3 (shouldnt be hard)

i'm not the biggest s3 fan either but this is the only thing i can agree with you on. they did rush through everything & didn't develop the storylines. stayed at the surface, never dug too deep. that's what i generelly disliked about s3 but it's been like that since s2. a storyline hardly ever lasted longer than 2 or 3 seasons.

it wasn't useless. it was a development for justin & a realization what brian offered him even if he didn't get to hear the desired three words or even if he wasn't the perfectly romantic boyfriend. it made brian realize how much justin really meant to him. the result of the entire ian thing was a much stronger brian-justin-relationship so ian wasn't useless.
ian started in 216 & stayed till 307 so i don't think they rushed through it. but - they did get rid of him pretty fast in the end.

not a big fan of temmet (*looks at jamie *) either. but not the most ridiculous thing on this show. not in my eyes, anyways. like i said before - hopefully we're done with this & they're back to being best friends.

the ted storyline was the only thing they really developed & i think it was pretty well written. ted never loved himself & always wanted to be someone else so the entire drug thing wasn't too far off.
and which relation between whom became suddenly different?

i love michael & ben & i do love hunter. i don't know where this is gonna lead us but hopefully the 3 of them together somehow.

i could without horvath. ted & em teaching deb how to please her man? totally useless. mel & michael having a baby together? why bring in another baby if the first baby hardly exists on the show?

it's always been about "us vs. them" if you wanna call it like that. michael not being out at work because he feared discrimination wasn't anything else. that was in s1.
there was a bit much heroism in s3 tho. totally agree.

brian's developed over the seasons which, imo, is a good thing. it'd be boring if he'd always stay the same. the hero-thing & the brian-becoming-detective-thing was too much but well, it's a tv show & a drama. compared to some of the stuff i see on other shows, i'd still rather see qaf heroism.

Whhhaaaa? There's going to be new opening credits? Crazy! I don't really pay attention to the credits now, it'll be weird to have new ones. Curious to see them though.

Man, I can't wait for season 4. It's been so long since the season finale. Hurry up and get here!

Well, IMO, season 3 wasn't that good because there were only 14 episodes and they dealt with big problems like the election and Justin/Ian storyline...those storylines could grow a bit more if there were like 20 episodes or something...

As for Brian's character, yeah...towards the end of season 3, we got to see the good side of Brian.
But there was still some things that's like so Brian. Like the GLC Charity event turn into Butthole Bingo I mean, c'mon...that's so Brian!!

But then again, maybe the writers were trying to show to us that Brian is the kind of person who's willing to sacrifice for what he believes in...or maybe the writers were looking for a way to show to us that Brian loves Justin and Brian did listen to Justin in the end...and it didn't have to be with those three words

Right?

i know, it'll be so weird. anytime i watch an episode of ANY series on Showtime, i expect the "One two three four!" bit to play. which is odd when The L Word is on.

and, uhh. season three was my favorite. **hides**

Every single time I hear 'One Two Three Four' it's always my cue to run to the sofa and now with the new credits...hmm...I dunno

Well, season 3 is not the best but it's still great...it has some significant BJ moments...'Pleasure to work under you', 'Posession withdrawal syndrome', 'You haven't lost everything...(314)' and of course, The Black Undies!!

but - they did get rid of him pretty fast in the end.
Yeah, that's what was weird. Weird but not bad coz I didnt really like E/J, actually I would skip the parts where they were together. I hate romances so to me it was so boring. Its why I love J/B coz its not out of a Walt Disney, even far far away from it

Quote:
which relation between whom became suddenly different?
Between Ted and Emmet, Micheal and Melanie. I hate the Ted storyline coz nothing's gonna be like before anymore I hate when things change...snif...

Quote:
ted & em teaching deb how to please her man?
Oh I think it was cute and brought some funny scenes like when Emm saw that whore with the same jacket he's wearing, it was damn funny

Quote:
why bring in another baby if the first baby hardly exists on the show?
I dont really care about the first baby so dont really care about the second baby either. I think that Gus appeared in the S3 as much as in the others and its enough for me

Quote:
it's always been about "us vs. them" if you wanna call it like that
It was about descrimination but not some kind of war good VS evil, white and black, I found it a little easy...life isnt a comic book there's alot more grey...

Quote:
it'd be boring if he'd always stay the same
I wouldnt mind but there it was like his character was finished, accomplished. Like the evolution was at its max so I freaked out thinking man the fun's over. And he's poor now (it is a big deal ) and now that everybody knows what he's done they're all gonna be nice to him...oh there's gonna be no fun left!! Im still freaking out!!

Quote:

Yeah. Why did they make the season so short...

Quote:
Like the GLC Charity event turn into Butthole Bingo I mean, c'mon...that's so Brian!!
that was great! I loved the faces the people of the commitee were doing. And Mel bitching about it, I mean how can she still be surprised...lol

Quote:

Didnt need to go that far for that, it was pretty obvious, Brian calling Ethan, Iian its a oh!so old technic to minimize one's bf/gf when you're jalous

Again, so sorry

I've been house and apartment hunting today, ready to move out of my current living situation. But then I realized I probably would not be able to afford cable just yet. So I'm staying put until Season 4 is over! lol
