It was so sad because his friends did try to help him. Michael tried to get him a job at the big Q and M/L put aside their own personal issues and tried to help him but the thing iz he wasn't ready to help himself

It wasn't a good idea to make him go on that weekend by himself though. He was supposed to go to another place, not that motel where everything started, but he should have never been alone in that moment, in my opinion.

He definitely shouldn't have gone away for the weekend on his own. In fact I think Emmett didn't want to let go alone and wanted to join him but since Ted was acting strange at that point I guess Emmett thought it might do TEd some good to be alone for a whole which was if course a mistake.

I think Emmett sensed that something is off with Ted, though and didn't believe him when he said he was going to a walk or to the gym and so on...

Later on when he found out Ted became addicted he thought that if he would take drugs with Ted itmight help but it was the oppsite, obviously

Or maybe he thought "If you can't beat them join them"... I think Emmett himself was so lost and confused with everything that was going on that he thought that by joining Ted he's helping him which was very wrong. Poor Emmet

I think they all noticed something was off but probably nobody expected Ted to get into drugs like that. I mean, if someone had told me in S1 that one of the characters later would become an addict, I would have never thought of Ted.

Maybe that's why he got addicted, though. People always thought he was the funny, somewhat boring accountent but deep down he wasn't feeling that way and as things started falling apart for him he lost control.

Sure, when they really take everything away from him... it's a good storyline to make him the one who uses drugs, even though before that he's not so much the type for drugs.

I think it was rooted in the fact he still wasn't sure who he was and wasn't happy with himself for a long time. Maybe it all began when he started using pain killers for his back because it's when he realized he can use something to take away the pain of his reality.
