I personally think that Brian gave Ethan advice because he wanted Justin to have a better life and if it meant pushing Ethan towards getting the job offer then so be it.

I think it was a mix between really thinking Ethan shouldn't waste such an opportunity he had worked for his entire life, and wanting to push Ethan to do something Brian knew would have disappointed Justin and proved him he wasn't #1 in Ethan's life, thus making him start understand Ethan wasn't that much better than Brian himself.

I don't know if he was really trying to get him back at that point, but I think he was definitely tired of hearing how much better Ethan was and how much more he loved and cherish Justin. Ethan accepting that deal was a proof that when it came to choose between his own career and dream and Justin's good, Ethan would choose himself.

I don't think he was doing anything to get Justin back moreso that to prove he was right and Ethan was a ******.

Justin was so caught up in needing to hear romantic words that I don't think he saw the falseness that were Ethan's romantic words and if he did then he chose to ignore that it was false.

But people, what are you talking about? Ethan getting Justin back? They were together in the finale of season 2!

Brian was trying to get Justin back - subconsciously. It wasn't Ethan.
