still,I can't understand why Brian refused to even acknowledge Justin's birthday. I mean after the bashing he did so many things he never thought he would have done before ,so I guess it was a step back for him not to do something for Justin's birthady. __________________

Considering how Brian celebrated his own 30th birthday and what he did for Michael's, I have a feeling he doesn't enjoy birthdays very much
I guess it could be something that comes from his childhood  Anyway, in the end he did do something, it's just that it wasn't the wrongest thing he could __________________

there is no doubt in my mind that Brian's reluctance to celebrate birthdays was rooted in his childhood, but in this case I have no choise but to agree with Lindsay ("isn't that enough reason to celebrate"

Probably it was also a plot device to get Justin to meet Ethan and to create some trouble between them, because in S1 Brian actually asked Justin what he wanted for his 18th birthday and he didn't seem at all against celebrating.

I thought about that too,actually.
but than again their relanionship in S2 after the bashing were different than in S1,so maybe Brian used his "no birthday" excuse because he felt the intensity of their relationship and it scared him __________________
