Title can always be changed
 I take my last post over to here: Melanie was not a good lawyer... seriously! She barely had anything to do and if she had she got suspended or completely failed or someone else did her job.  I mostly blame Lindsay for their Season 1 problems __________________

I think they were both in it together and they both had to take responibility for maintining their relationship, esp since there was a baby involved.

But Melanie couldn't do anything without Brian and Lindsay. She needed Lindsay to support her to get the parental rights for the baby, that was supposed to be her baby too. And she didn't...

Melanie is as much at fault for the mess with Gus as Lindsay. She was the lawyer, she was the one that should have had Brian sign the papers before the child was born, when they all agree on it. A good lawyer would have never let that happen, so I agree that she wasn't such a good lawyer.

Actually she should've gotten another lawyer to take the case (since she was emotionally involved)

I think they underestimated the power seeing his kid could have on Brian. They never would have imagined Brian might fall in love with the kid, but he did. Life can be surprising sometimes, and so do people.

Before Gus was born Brian may have given M/L the impression he was just doing Lindsay a favor and that he's got no interst in becoming the baby's dad, but things obviously changed once he saw the baby for the first time

Brian would have never imagined he would love Gus and want to be part of his life. Kinda like what happened with Justin. He rejected the idea of love, both for a partner and for a son, untill both came into his life and he had to readjust his beliefs.
