I just was thinking what's the dark spot Randy has on his nose... then I realised it was a tiny dirty spot on my monitor

I think I had too less sleep....

Fort Worth Star-Telegram

http://www.star-telegram.com/living/article80407007.html

As the character’s name suggests, the Emcee (Randy Harrison) guides us through the story and subplots as narrator, chief entertainer and Greek Chorus. Harrison, best known for playing Justin on Showtime’s Queer as Folk, but with an impressive theater résumé of musicals and the masters of world drama, follows on the heels of memorable performances in this role by Joel Grey and Alan Cumming and more than holds his own. He’s thoroughly engaging, with sharp comic and improvisational timing and a commanding tenor. Along with the male and female Kit Kat dancers, he executes Rob Marshall’s original choreography beautifully.

Dallas Morning News

Taunting, teasing, terrifying ‘Cabaret’ sizzles on Winspear stage | | Dallas Morning News

Randy Harrison brings a youthful, brash and hyper-sexualized delivery to the Emcee. Sporting criss-crossed suspenders over a bare torso, he’s simultaneously a Greek chorus, shifting from performer to observer, and a court jester, whose sardonic wit will not save him from the rulers’ wrath forever.

Here's a another review of the Dallas run
BWW Review: CABARET at Winspear Opera House

I was pleased to see Andrea Goss being mentioned in such positive light, she is truly remarkable as Sally Bowles and her voice, just amazing

Of course the EmCee gets his fair share of the praise too

Quote:
Although Harrison captures the audience's attention early in the evening in the high-kicking and high-energy opening number "Willkommen," it's in Act Two when he truly shines. As his light gets darker, Harrison's smile gets frighteningly larger, an eerie juxtaposition of the reality outside the club and the façade they perform inside every night.
P.S Thanks for the tutorial on linking IG pictures Deborah! I'll try to remember for next time

UPDATE

ANOTHER GREAT REVIEW
http://www.theaterjones.com/ntx/revi...Center/Cabaret

Randy Harrison, the emcee for the national tour, is a mesmerizing and increasingly menacing ringmaster, as he moves from sexual to political pandering. Best known for his work in Showtime’s Queer as Folk, Harrison also has a lengthy and varied list of stage credits. The polish shows. Shirtless and wearing suspenders and a bowtie, Harrison beckons to the audience in his pliant tenor voice to “leave your troubles outside” in the defiantly bawdy number, “Willkommen.” Who can resist a little debauchery so playfully rolled out? After all, it’s New Year’s Eve in Berlin. We’re still a long way from Harrison’s ruthless and strident rendition of “Tomorrow Belong to Me,” a rising Nazi anthem.

I like the fact that the reviewer highlighted Randy's stage experience:

Quote:
Despite being an LGBT icon from the Showtime series "Queer as Folk," Harrison is a true stage veteran, with a musical theatre degree from the University of Cincinnati's Conservatory of Music and a myriad of regional theatre credits to boot.

Yet another..

Not sure if this was posted here previously:

Theatre Review: “Cabaret” Sizzles, Then BurnsTheatre Review: "Cabaret" Sizzles, Then Burns - Irish Film Critic

The entire affair is overseen and narrated by the Emcee (Randy Harrison), a flamboyant and sexually ambiguous character who fully embraces the Bohemian lifestyle embodied in the club itself. ....Harrison plays Emcee with an unfettered joy, providing equal parts raunchiness and levity. His performance gives the play its greatest energy, which he sustains throughout the storyline. He reflects the tone of story and in many ways personifies the tragic consequences these characters face in a Nazi controlled Germany. His character gives Harrison ample room for unrelenting flamboyance, and he throws himself fully into the opportunity. He truly was a joy to witness.

Randy is always a joy to witness.

But I'm wondering how many people actually know what the Weimar Republic really meant and what it was really like to live in that era. One of my fave artists of the time is George Grosz and I was SO lucky that the RA had a fabulous show of his work while I was still living in London.

If anyone is interested ...
