What do you guys think about this quote:
Leda: "Marriage. Straight people deserve it."

As a straight person, I hope I deserve it. I don't want to be lonely!!

No but seriously--I can't remember the context of this....?

She makes that comment after Mel/Linds walk out of the bar having a heated argument about their upcoming wedding. It was made sarcastically.

I'm not sure what my views on marriage are, so I think it's interesting.

Oh okay. Hmm.

I mean--I think marriage is more of a personal thing--your views on it, anyways. And not so much a gender or orientation thing. Like if you believe in marriage and want to get married? Great. If not, great. Whatever makes you happy.

However--not having the right to marry is difficult and unfair. No matter your opinions on marriage, everyone deserves to at least have the option.

Spoiler:

I know the circumstances surrounding this particular delivery are sad, but his delivery never fails to be effortlessly funny. He was drunk, though.

Aww, this one isn't funny, for me. I think the delivery just makes it so painfully obvious that he's trashed and in so much pain that I just can't laugh. In fact the first time I watched it, I didn't get that he was that upset and I was just like "WTF?" That's a tough scene, and then Michael's comment, "You're a falling down mess!"

I'd agree that it was highly personal. They make a lot of references on the show (at least Brian and Leda do) to how queers should be able to "escape" marriage, so was interested in getting some insight from...straight people.

I agree that everyone deserves the option! But at the same time, knowing that it was so hard to earn that option and that so many people are still bitches about everyone having the option, it makes the whole "industry" seem even more fed up, in a way. If that makes any sense...

I honestly did't know whether to laugh or just go, "Poor Brian". Brian was all messed up.

It's hard to react to. His jokes are usually super easy to laugh at. But he's a mess.

that is my opinion too, but some people think different..

just thinking of my uncle who, after his wife died when they were high in their 80s , had to marry again half a year later, cause he was almost blind and needed help.. and what would the neighbours think if a woman lives with him and he isn't married and the end of it.. she ended all connections to his daughter, cause she could want money from him and even with us she cut in.. we didn't get anything of the promised things when he passed aay, cause everything he had , his wife was the first to get it..even not having own children at aall.

in my eyes marriage isn't neccessarily important, unless both part want to do it. as long as they are happy together.. and some people are just not marriage marterial.. they live together for years happily and the moment they marry.. all goes down the drain you never know..

and a lot of people over here just marry because of saving taxes..

It does make sense and it's true. It's a classic case of taking things for granted. Straight people take marriage for granted. Not to say it's not important to them, etc. But like anything, if you were always able to do it/have it, you don't necessarily appreciate it enough.

I wonder if Brian and Leda would have the same opinions on marriage if they were straight. Maybe it was also them just being free and not ever wanting to settle down.

Personally, I like the idea of marriage and do want to get married one day.

Aww yeah I think I lean towards "poor Brian" but still does make me laugh. He knows how to deliver it well.

What's luxury for you may only be a privilege to someone else.

that is very true, and people just don't think enough about it.. most just complain..

the one with the wheelchair needs to much space in a bus.. instead of being glad to be healthy..

the people who had to fell their ome because of war or religion or whatever.. insted of bein glad not be in that position people complain they get money or take away something of their life..

the privilege to marry and be happy with the one you love is so normal that we don't think about the ones who aren allowed to do so.. no matter if it is because of religion or gender..

One of my favourite quotes:

It's not lying if they make you lie. If the only truth they can accept is their own.

Oh, I love that one too. Sometimes people can't handle the truth, so they want you to make them believe a pretty lie. I'm probably one of those people, so I can't talk.
