Lover I Don't Have To Love, is one of my favorite songs on the soundtrack. I think it's perfect in this scene and are VERY sad. I've actually cried over this scene and still teary-eyed when I watch. These are the feelings they're supposed to bring you. Losing Justin the way he did, loving him the way he does, made him wish that he didn't love him. It would have been easier that way...it was too painful. He was devastated...the words of Michael cut him to the core and he believed he lost both for good.

He felt empty, cold, nothingness...or was that just an act? Let's bring this over to S5.

Isn't it interesting how different we all are in our perception of these scenes and songs?

BTW, I know I'm stating the obvious here but I forgot to mention this in my Greek Chorus definition.

The canon music they use is quite literally the Greek Chorus. That's why I get upset when Netflix changes the theme. I'm constantly running to my computer to see what Cowlip originally used to make sure I understand what they're trying to say.

My constant anger against the GC is that the narrative is perpetually telling us to feel the opposite of what we're absorbing from a scene.

But, I think they've done a great job with the music in conveying a mood or intent that wouldn't have otherwise been understood. I wouldn't have understood it, at least. Ex: Sleep and Lover I Don't Have to Love.

I mean, HAH, I needed Deborah to explain Lover I Don't Have to Love to me TWICE!! LOL

Firstly the look on Gale's/Brian's face is...I'm running out of adjectives for his facial expressions. They are so many and so exquisite and so pained.

So, I ran to my computer and I bawled, too. I listened over and over. And, I read the lyrics over and over.

I died today. But, I'm still breathing. Bleeding...for now. I mean, honestly, that describes Brian through MOST of this series. They just hurt him so badly ALL the time!!

Thanks so much for bringing that up. I hadn't listened to it in a while. (Listening now as I type).

Hi, Black Sapphire!

Maybe you guys can help me. I've been racking my brains for months about this. It's so difficult b/c I'm watching on Netflix so I don't hear the original music.

Now, back when QAF was airing there was a song by the Counting Crows called Colorblind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY0yKxMwRGg

There were soooo many B/J fanvids with this song. It was a huge song in the fandom.

But...I can't find it in my wikilists of QAF songs and I CAN'T remember in what scene it played?

So, is this song NOT in QAF canon and it sort of became fan canon through osmosis of being the background of so many B/J vids????

Please help me b/c this little puzzle has been driving me insane.

I haven't watched all the episodes myself but I did some research for you and I found a useful website for you that tells you the list of qaf songs for future reference Queer as Folk Fans :: Chapter 2 in the 513 gap filler mini series--"Pour" but couldnt find the colourblind track on there.

Beth: That song is not on the QAF soundtrack. Usually vid makers don't use canon songs for their videos.

Thanks so much for confirming that the song as not actually in the show. That's quite a phenomenon, then. There's no other song, in my memory (which doesn't say much), that went 'round the fandom so quickly, completely and iconically.

Yeah - there were a lot of canon songs for the vids: Weapon, True Faith, Forever Young, etc.

I read someplace that around the time of the 10 year reunion a BUNCH of B/J fanvids were pulled from YT. Have no idea why but I can't find the ones that I watched so many years ago.

OK - so this 513 gapfiller fanfic - will it help me or hurt me??

Given you see I've already surpassed 100 posts I'm in quite a fragile state. LOL

Lemme know if it's safe to dive in to this thing.

And, Vicki, thanks so much for the list. I've been using this one. It's been so comprehensive which is why I was confused about Colorblind.
