I wonder if part of it was the excitement of sneaking around. Because it did turn into an affair and he could have been honest with Brian. I know that Brian would have let him go and there would have been less anger.

Yes, maybe like you said, Deborah, he was enjoying the exhilaration of being sneaky as opposed to going the "dull" way and being up front with Brian and letting him know. It was wrong on Justin's part to have kept that from Brian. Brian was emotionally unavailable most of the time, but he still invested much of himself in that relationship.

Brian isn't stupid, but he wanted to believe that Justin wouldn't lie to him, especially after Justin's "rules".
I guess the lure of Ethan was too great to give up. Justin wanted to keep it all to himself. __________________
