Furniture in QAF

So has anyone else noticed that there is a fair amount of mid-century modern furniture in some of the sets? (I restore MCM furniture, so I'm probably more attuned to it that most!)

Specifically, Deb's house and Emmett's and Michael's apartment in early episodes. I think Dr. Dave has a few mid-century pieces too.

Sorry in advance for the random question!

I just want to explain why Jim's thread was moved and merged to this thread.

If we're talking about furniture in general, then it should go in O.T. If it's related to the show, it should be general. I've suggested in this case that we edit the title to reflect the current discussion.

How do you guys feel about that? Jim?

No need to be sorry for that question Jim I honestly think it is a pretty good one

we pay way too less attention to things like that, so thanks for pointing it out

and it is interesting to hear that you restore furniture

so.. for us unknown furniture people.. maybe you can find the one or other piece of furniture you are talking about? maybe as a screenshot?

I think I do know at least kind of what you mean, but I'm not sure..

Thank you for the title change Daggi. This is the perfect thread in which to discuss this topic so we can really dive in.

No worries at all, Jim. Now that you mentioned it, yes, it is mid-century modern. I always thought the furniture had such unique character to be in a 2000's show. It has no parts of the noughties in the design scheme, or even in the patterns. And there was always lots of antique pieces at Debbie's house, she seems like a real collector. The little trinkets over the fireplace are what comes to mind, too. I think the furniture that dresses Debbie's home is reflection of the time she came up in.

I think mid-century modern is a term used to describe urban furniture styles that ranged somewhere from like the 1950s to the 1970s. I don't know a lot about this topic, but I have read about it in a few places before.

^
that picture looks like it.

I think it's a great move, this way everybody knows what the current topic is and Jim knows where his question went in case he doesn't notice the redirect.

I would have to rewatch the show to give an answer it's been years since I've watched the show.
