What an interesting discussion, given that Gale himself is the 3rd. I wonder how he feels about it. Personally, I agree with Debs. A unique name allows one to be his/her own person. I've had to deal with Sr., Jr., III and even IV and V in my family my whole life. I don't like it. It's tradition. I'm not a traditional kind of person at all and sometimes can't get over why people don't BREAK traditions more often.

And Daggi, your idea of hollering one name sounds funny, but try living with it. And not knowing who is being beckoned, and answering the phone (before the days when each person had their own phone) and asking if you want to speak to young *Gale" or old *Gale" and they have to describe him... because they don't know what you mean by young or old. Or little or big. And the mail... and the miscommunication during conversations... I've lived with it and my brother and father don't mind. And then my brother went and named his son with the EXACT SAME NAME!! I wonder if it ever bothered Gale?

It was ment to e funny and I only was kidding I find it awful always have to ask who is ment.... it is hard enough if you have the same last name how often do I have to ask which one of us Hamedingergirls they want to have on the phone but thats live, and we can't change the desicions our parents mak when naming us. You just go with it...

And I think Gale doesn't mind, because if he would, he probably wouln't use his full name
