August 2011 is right before the season started. I'm wondering when filming was... he got his haircut during the show, I think.

Ooh, Star, thank you! I remember this. After TSC's mid-season finale around November of '11, they came back in January or February of 2012 and Gale was sporting this new do in the new episodes. His haircut was even revealed on an old twitter feed I was using (before I had this account) by a stylist who trimmed/styled hm. Forgot her name, though.
He looks great with short hair. For a minute and without looking at the background in pic, I thought that this was BK. __________________
