I wanted to watch this so badly and couldn't because of packing for a trip tomorrow! Sadly or happily, I'll be away until late Tuesday night and won't be able to watch until then. and I'm taking a vacation!
I only watched the Peacock preview on the episode screen on Peacock and it looked fantastic without being QAF. I would watch it without the Queer As Folk name. I wish it had another name. Then we could have discussed it in our LGBTQ+ Arts and Entertainment Thread I'll take a good LGBTQ+ show anytime because they're few and far between. __________________

Maybe I would give it a shot if it wouldn't be QAF remake, but it's riding on QAF legacy, so no. I don't support lack of creating something original and new.
Have a great vacation and watching it will not run away from you ;P |

I read a post today on fb I think, and person said it could never be or be compared to QAF. This person likes it but it didn't have this thing, special vibe etc.
I read it by accident, I mean somehow fb recommended this for me, no idea why |

Wow Deborah you did an amazing job with this thread
Now I need to find a possibility to watch it somewhere I was quite shocked to read that people already quit watching again I learned my lesson with battlestar galactica and would never dare to judge before watching myself... __________________

Daggi, I know people who doesn't like remakes of what was done great. I don't follow remakes, so it's impossible to say in general, but the ones I heard and had more than one season ended after second or third. With a lot of talking why it taken so long.
For me remakes aren't worth to try to watch. It's like throwing all good memories to see what they did with my adored show. It's like reading awasome book written all over again by someone else. Why people would like to try to repeat great thing by repeating piece of art? There is no limits for creativity and new stories. And it's nice when they are on some levels similar. All people learned from what impressed and inspired them. Loose coupling can be good. Maybe a lot of people doesn't like it because it's called remake, and if it would be single handedly they would then. I would like to know your opinion. Could it be individual tv series? If we wouldn't know it as called "remake" would you say it is based on QAF? Plots and characters/"couples" are similar? |

Thank you for your support, Daggi. But this is even too difficult for myself to do this. I absolutely LOVED the show and just wish it was more than 8 episodes. I hope there is a second season. Too bad there's no one else interested in building this. Someone said they'd help me and I'm thankful, but I haven't seen them since.
As far as similarities with characters etc, not really. This was just really intense. Remake/Reimaging...whatever...the themes were pretty intense and the characters/acting was amazing. I'm still crying. This was a work of art all on it's own. I wish everyone could watch and see for themselves without comparing. This stands on it's own. QAFUK - original, QAFUS - remake, Peacock's QAF - reimagining. __________________

It didn't the chance to really take off. Had much potential.

I saw good tv series or movies left after one season/first movie. It's all about money and nothing else.
Something can be good, but don't have good advertising or timing is wrong, actors/actresses sucks or some other people from production or film editing. |
