Michael probably was the only one who really knew that Brian was hurting very much inside without showing it.. he saw those things coming from the beginning ...

There are still other parts to Brian's character Michael knew about that others, not even Justin I'm afraid, didn't know.

Same, Michael could be an instigator of both good and bad situations. Somehow, I do not believe the story line would have held together as well without the addition of Michael... well duh! he narrates it.

I agree that it wouldn't have been the same without a Michael-type character.
I think I would have loved to see one of the other characters do the closing narration. That would have been interesting.  __________________
