Brian Kinney Analysis/Essay - Help!

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for any and all essays done on the character Brian Kinney. I'm more looking for anything discussing his mentality, his perspectives and outlook on life and society. Anything on his perspectives towards relationships and social roles, as well.

If any of you know of ANY essays about Brian Kinney (even if they don't involve what I've described), please let me know. I'd love to read them.

Or post your own if you'd like!

Thanks a lot!

Usually, I would advise you to post this in the Gale/Brian thread, since it has to do with Brian, but since it's not the usual post, I'm going to leave this open and hope that someone can help you out.

Thank you! I need to get this more attention than just having it within the Brian/Gale thread.

That's what I figured and I'm sure my co-mod agrees with me on that. Let's just hope that people will see it any react and post.

a good thing to start could be reading what Gale and the writers said about Brian and his personality in the QAF books. I have the scans if you're interested. I also remember to have seen a page on the internet with some kind of analysis of Brian, but I have to look for the link cause I can't remember it now.

I was good with essays at school, maybe I'll give it a try at least, the subject is definitely one I love in this case

hi, i'm brand new to this, but if you really want Brian analysis as well as much other QAF character analysis, i've just run across a site that's quite extensive on the topic -- try Starema's Writings :: A Queer as Folk FanFiction Site - on its home page, click on ANALYSIS [13] - if you see any potential in the first one, i suggest you read them all just in the order they're presented (not be tempted to just skip to the ones that appear to be Brian related, he, of course, shows up all throughout) - i truly believe that there are enough gems and insights sprinkled throughout that make the whole read worthwhile - some (of the 13) were written after the 2nd season others after the 4th + 5th. All 13 are about QAF characters, main and peripheral. The bulk of them are about different aspects of Brian's character.

hope this helps

-- if the link above doesn't work it's staremawritings with the 3w's. before and .com after it (note there's no 's' in the middle)

chase 73 - Thanks for the link! I'm definitely going to check them all out!

galesgirl (re: LJ) - do you mean search for analyses on a Brian Kinney or QAF LJ community?

Manu9 - I've read a lot of Gale's quotes online; I'd love to get my hands on some QAF books - maybe I'll look into spending some money on them.

Thanks everyone!
