I think he realized along the way that if he would give up the fight it would only make him a better and obviously much happier person, but at the same time he would still be Brian Kinney.

I rewatch the prom dance to calm me down when I'm pissed. I've watched it so much that everyone's tired of hearing Save the Last Dance For Me.
