I love that it was very realistic, though. It wasn't angst free. they both struggled with many obstacles and with personal issues, but the important thing was that they never stopped loving each other (and I strongly believe they still do )

Brian's issues, his initial unwillingness (?) to open up to love, to even believe in it, helps making their story more special and more touching, because of the way their love makes him change.

I have to say that despite the fact I don't always agree with Micheal, I totally agree with what he tells Brian in 211, when Brian says he won't be at M/L wedding.he tells him that it's ok to be human and that he shouldn't run away from love. Brian kept running away from loving Justin, but he eventually figured out that he can run but he could never hide from it.

I think he also tries to run from himself, from the feelings he has. But just as there's no way to run away from Justin, there's even less way to run away from himself.

I guess we all are, at least a little, but of course someone who's had an example as what he had from his parents has probably even more fears.

I totally agree, Manu.
All through his childhood and teenage years Brian was always told, and taught that there's no such thing as love, because he never saw or experienced that in his family, so he distant himself from it. I think Justin helped him to help himself not to be afraid from the concept of love, even though it obviously involved heart ache.

It took a long while, but what matters is that in the end Brian did come to the point of opening up to love.

oh, definitely!
He only had bad experiences when he was growing up, and kept running away from up until he was 30 so no wonder he had misconception about what love is, and convinced himself he doesn't believe in "IT", without even knowing what "IT" means or really feel like. Until Justin came along, of course
