I agree. Spike and Faith are characters that work best as foils so I don't think they'd have much to play off one another.

I did find their one basement scene in Buffy quite funny though - but mostly because it was there to make Buffy jealous! I couldn't have seen them working as a couple, but Cordy and Spike would have definitely worked, if only by the fact that Spike and Anya worked so well and Anya for most of the time was kind of a Cordy Clone

cordy and spike were a lot alike (in a totally different way that he and faith were alike) i was reading a fic the other day were she reminded spike of someone but he couldn't figure out who

Anya was basically written as Cordy; it was the actresses that made the characters unique.

How do you think Spike would have reacted to Cordy's visions?

Wasn't it Spike who was suppose to be sort of Cordyish, to be on the sidlines and tell everyone they were going to die?

i think he was suppose to br the new 'cordy' but it didn't work

I think it's cause Spike is too much of his own character.

I think Cordy was so effective in that role because there wasn't anything anyone could do to her. She was human and Xander and Willow especially had known her so long they were used to putting up with her. Since Spike is a vampire you'd eventually start wondering why no one had staked him yet.

True. Course, it was also cause of the morality issue of them staking a defensless being.

And then later on Spike fell in love with Buffy and gained a new purpose.
