I doubt that he had a chance to be written back, well, when I watched the series for the very first time and didn't know anything about ats and the whole situation I had a great hope for Doyle to be returned... But know I see that it looks like he had no chance, I think so for some reason (and the reason is NOT Glenn... definitely not). Now I'm working on my Dordy fanfiction and keeping Doyle with his friends till the end is the main idea of mine So I'm thinking of him in season 2, 3, 4 everytime I write

That's great Mary. I look forward to reading what you've written.

I'll tell you though -- they did plan on writing him back in instead of Darla in the finale.

Yeah I heard that too -- he wanted Darla back for both season 1 and 2 finale, but when the episode "Hero" was first written they had planned to bring him back for the finale as a twisting surprise -- hence the question asked; "Is that it? Am I done?" The writers were literally asking the audience "is he done?" But sadly they never went with it.

Oh that's okay, I'll wait.

Actually, I think they where just saing it to keep the raitings... They used to say completely different things: Joss and David Greenwalt - that Doyle "was ment to die from the very beginning with a heroic end", David Fury blamed Glenn, and viewers blamed everyone there... Raitings where falling, they had to keep it, so they continued playing this game without even thinking of bringing back Doyle - they already wrote all the new plot-line with Weaseley and stuff, and Doyle just had no place in it... But he was still the beloved character, so to keep audience and his loyal fans watching the writters decided to play a bit... that's what I think. Yeh, I read too many about it, I know

Fanfiction is a kind of obsession - like you get some power on something you can't have an influence on in a real life

I heard that too, but actually it was when Gunn came they finally decided it'd be better to leave Doyle alone -- he died heroically Anyway that's why Gunn became a regular in season 2, he was never suppose to be a regular. It's funny how series plays out.
I do agree with david greenwalt though that he was meant to go with an heroic end and that's exactly what they gave him.

very true.

Oh, you know, reading their weird explainations I felt rather tired of them talking different things about Doyle and Glenn... I guess they will never tell us the truth...

I absolutely fanfiction, it really can make a fan feel so much better when he writes his own interpretation of his favourite story

That's very true... I love fanfiction -- I mean Cordelia is my favorite character so just reading stories where her death was nothing more than a way to help angel and really she didn't die I'm happy. That's the same way with everyone else like Wes, Gunn, Doyle ect... for example I love stories where Wesley is saved in the end of the series or Gunn is saved in the hospital or Doyle is actually working along side with the powers in a different dimension. Another is where he was sent in the future and is saving lives in a different city.

I love fanfiction.

Yeh, and I also love the reality, you know, where everything and everyone is changed by one person or one event. Like Dawn in Buffy season 5. Like, something happens or comes into the plot and all the characters and their actions change by the influence of it

And it's always hard to write it that way to make it really interesting - you have to know the original plot and the characters as perfectly as you can, something like feeling you yorself live somewhere together with them

that's when it gets tough. cause you don't live with them so you can easily get off track with your characters.
