Yeah, it would have been cute if Angel had comforted Cordy after her and Xander broke up, so their relationship could have developed much earlier if they had talked more than a few words.

I can see Cangel starting up a very tentative freidnship in S3 of BTVS. I think it would havw worked, and BA could have still had their crappy angst

Would have been nice to see Cangel interact since they were about to become such a big part of eachother

love the caps and everyones thoughts and ideas while i didn't mind the beige period ot the darla arc i do admit that i hated that he slept with her because in my mind he was already cordy's but then i loved the cute little family moments with cordy/baby connor/angel they just seemed natural so i have to overlook the darla sex because of that but i hate how the coonor thing ended

i think we all agree that the friendship should have started in BTVS years, I always thought the reason she acted like she hated him was not just because of the vampire thing so much as being jealous that he chose buffy over her and also xander's influence when they started dating cause once she left sunnydale with out buffy around or xander you could tell she cared about him from the very beginning so maybe she didn't hate angel as much as she let on

I think she was just scared he was going to go bad and kill her again - but it probably wasn't Angel she disliked but Buffy, because if she felt she couldn't trust Buffy then they were only one happy away from being murdered

She just channelled all of her Buffy aggression into the Angel situation! When she met him in L.A though, she had probably realised that coming 'second' to Buffy wasn't something she had to worry about any longer - so she accepted him straight away

I think L.A. was a new start for them both and if they didn't have to worry about Buffy there, the more the merrier. Buffy always came with drama, something our couple could live without when S1 strolled along

IA with that. I think it was a few things that made her act like she hated Angel... he chose Buffy over her after she threw herself at him, he went evil and almost killed them all, and Xander reallllly hated him.

tbh, I don't think it had anything to do with her hating Buffy. I'm not saying she didn't dislike Buffy, but I believe she had her own reasons for not liking him [which were vaild reasons.]

I love Cordy to peices, but I don't think it's really fair to blame everything on Buffy. yes, Buffy did cause trouble for her by being the slayer, but it wasn't just Cordy. it was for everyone around here. and Cordy choose to befriend Buffy and be a part of their group. she always said "why do I hang out with you losers?" that was her choice to make, and she knew they came with drama and would get her into trouble. I don't disagree with what you're saying, it is true. but it was still Cordy's choice that she made.

but yeah, I do think that people and situations in Sunnydale led Cordy to dislike Angel for awhile. and when they got to LA, not only is it great to see an old friend in such a big city, but it was a fresh start, and the situations and people that led her to dislike Angel were out of the picture. so it was like a fresh start for them.

still though, I would have liked to see a little bit of a friendship develop in s3 towards the end. at least a little foreshadowing for the friendship and eventual love that would happen on AtS.

I think the beginning of Angel worked well because they knew each other but didn't have a close connection. In Sunnydale they were both outsiders so they were able to make a clean break. How do you think an earlier friendship would have changed the transition to L.A.?

I don't think the earlier friendship would have changed much

I don't see them being too close, just maybe they'd talk to eachother sometimes, and maybe Cordy would get 1 or 2 smiles out of him. They'd still be mostly strangers, but you'd be able to see that something could grow if they got to know eachother better.
