and most guys wouldn't let the personality thing stop them from going for the hottness that was cordy (esp teenage boys) and once cordy began to care she became more vulnerable, she let her defenses slip some with xander and even angel a little (after all who was the only one who got him to laugh or smile esp in btvs years of course that is because db decided to play it that way not because of script as we all found out recently)

and the fic is by one of the authors that i love to read

I love that she didn't overplay them. The best moments are when she's clueless and tactless.

Cordelia was definitely the light entertainment and the voice of reason. I think sometimes the show needed someone to just cut through all the heavy emotion with a cutting comment, sure, they might not always like it, but she's always right!

Cordy was great at relieving tension

Another classic moment is in "Surprise" when Buffy comes through the wall and stakes the vampire and Cordy just pops up and yells surprise

oh I adore Cordelia beyond words. I loved BtVS truly, it was an amazing show, but for some reason I just hated all of the characters. except for a few people, Cordy being one of them. she was awesome. she provided alot of much needed comedic relief in the early seasons, she was a character that you just have to love. or at least love to hate. and she was awesome on Angel, though I prefer her on Buffy.

She was one of my favorites from the beginning because she was just so quotable. "What is your childhood trauma" is a line I've actually used.

I never watched BtVS before AtS started, so I saw Cordy for the first time on Angel, but also there I loved her from the beginning.
