Homestar Runner

Are there any fans of this online cartoon out there? The website is Homestarrunner.com if anyone wants to check it out. It is mostly flash animated shorts with a few other online features.

It isn't really about anything. The main character is kind of dumb and doesn't know what is going on most of the time. There is a bad guy named Strong Bad who is usually scoming up with some sort of scheme to get rich or famous and tries to take advantageof the other characters. His character answers weekly e-mails from fans that are usually pretty funny. There are also a lot of smaller characters on the show.

It's a favorite

Homestar is definately a favorite. Been following it for years.

I think one of my favorite things about it is how side concepts become integrated into the mainstream world, such as Strong bad drawing a dragon in answer to an email becomes a full-scale arcade game in his basement, and eventually into a game the watcher can play with a trailer for a future movie.

Silly, fun, and worth an afternoon.

Typically updated Mondays

"The Cheat is grounded! We installed that light-switch so you could turn the lights on and off- not so you could have light-switch rave!" -Strongbad

"Computer for Sale: slightly shotgunned"

Love this flash! Be sure to check out all the different skins for the homepage. And check out the SB email link at the bottom. Check out the mail entitled "Dragon" (you'll have to scroll down quite a bit).

I actually heard about this when the creators were on G4!

I love how interactive the site is. There are lots of hidden easter eggs around the site. One Winged Angel, when were the creators on G4 ? I would have like to see that.

Oh boy...it was a couple years ago I think. It's amazing just how old this site is, and still popular!
I remember watching the bit where they showed Marzipan's actress reciting her lines under a blanket to get the right voice (they didn't have to do that once they got a nifty sound manipulating program).

Do you know what year the site was created? I have been visiting on and off for about 4 years so i know its been around a while. That bit about the blanket is hilarious. It is amazing how vocally talented the creators are. I remember reading a long time ago that two guys did almost all of the voices (except for Marzipan since she is a girl.)

To Wiki! ^^
1996!
Heh, looking at the earlier sketches of Homestar, you can tell where they got Homsar (sp?). I love how they make fun of their own designs.
BTW, the blanket gave the Marzipan's voice actor allergies, so it gave her a 'stuffy nose' voice. Poor girl...
And the site was originally intended to be a children's book! Reminds me of the SBemail "For Kids".

Wow that is a long time for a site to be up and popular! The old stuff on the site is pretty interesting. It is amazing how much better the animation had become!

Yeah, they described how their animations and things have developed over the years. And they made big bucks with the site too. That would be sweet to make money doing something like that!

You could easily make a Homestar shirt: Take a white star and slap it onto a red shirt and voila!
