The people chosen to portray our fave Avatar group in the live action movie depresses me.

I'm not really a Zuko fan (as you all know) but I flipped out when I heard the Jesse McCartney thing.

And I'm not really a Twilight fan (extreme fangirls annoy me) so the Sokka choice didn't exactly please me either.

Must stay positive though. *sigh*

Yea, there's major backlash going around. But I don't know if this Jesse McCartney thing is true. I mean, I assume that the movie is going to take a lot of time, and he's just become a regular on the show Greek.

Don't get me wrong, I think Dev is a fantastic actor...but Zuko??

Their casting choices are so wonky. Dev Patel is awesome and not Jesse McCartney, so I'm gonna say this is a good thing. Though, I think he'd be a better Sokka than Zuko.

He seems to have that humor in him that sokka would have too. Maybe "Zuko" was a typo and it is sokka?

So the backlash has got us a real star for the Zuko role? Has anyone seen Slumdog Millionaire? Because I've only seen pictures of him and he doesn't seem very Zuko-ish. But I'd take him over Jesse McCartney. (Sorry, blondie!

Oh, and hi Kelsi Nielsen! Toph is indeed made of awesomeness and I actually think he was more mature (less sweet) in the third season. But then that's just me. Either way, I love my sweet Aang!

Slumdog Millionaire is amazing. I highly recommend it to everyone. And Dev Patel has some major acting chops. He'll probably be able to pull off Zuko, but I just can't get over the fact that he would be a better Sokka. He just seems to have a Sokka-type adorableness.

^I completely agree with you Allison. Slumdog Millionaire is a mustwatch and Dev is an amazing actor, but he's definitely better of as Sokka. He has a Sokkaish aura to him

Well, with all the Oscar buzz that movie's been getting I was intrigued, but if you and Allison both recommend it, I guess that cinches it.

It's not too sad or angsty, is it? I'd rather avoid movies that have a depressing ending whenever possible. (All I know is that it's a rag-to-riches type story but I'm still wary of anything Oscar nominated. You know how the academy likes their drama.)

And as long as we're recommending, if no one has seen Wall-E yet, they totally should. It's all adorable fluff and sweetness.

Hestia, I loved Wall-E. I saw it when it first came out.

And Slumdog Millionaire is a heart-warmer. It deals with a lot of hard issues, but at the end it's a love story with a happy ending (and a dance number).

I have mixed feelings about the Avatar movie, just from the random castings and M. Night. Dev was definitely a smart choice to cast before the Oscars. He'll get it some positive buzz.
