Well I am old enough to drink but I really don't very much, it's just a personal thing, some members of my family were really bad alcoholics and I don't want to take a chance. Although I'm not so sure if it's more genetic when it's a grandparent and not a parent. I know alcoholism is somewhat a genetic trait. Anybody here a science major? LOL

We had a fun day, well most of it anyway. My parents decided to do a "family fun day" and we went out to eat and then glow-bowling. I really suck at it btw, but it was fun. Then we went and bought a small flag to put on my Grandpa's grave for veteren's day coming up. He was a big supporter of respecting veteren's day and always felt it a slap in the face when people had to work or go to school on that day. he felt it should be treated like any other major holiday since they risked their lives over there and some did lose their lives.

It's just odd and really hard going to his gravesite. It's in a two like an hour from here so I don't go often, and it's tough I guess. I've not got into that thing where you go to the cemetary and visit with a loved one. I just don't think I am ready for that yet. Goodness, in about a month and a half it will have been a year since he passed on. I can't believe that, seems like yesterday that we were all having health problems surround us on this thread, Cass, isn't it almost a year for your Grandmother as well? If I remember correctly I think she passed two weeks before my Grandpa did.

My grandpa's sick now, actually. He's been in hospital for the last week. They've found that it was a problem with an operationm he had about 20 years ago (gastic banding), but a couple days ago they thought it was cancer, and freaked us all out.

I know a lot of people like that. It's sensible. My uncle's an alcoholic, but... I like the feeling of being drunk too much, heh.

Shan--Sorry to hear about your gramps, Hopefully he's getting better.

And hello everyone! I'm new, obviously

I just saw The Grudge. Scared the crap out of me. Mmhm. Everyone hear about the new Willy Wonka movie coming out in July starring the very deelish Johnny Depp?

Hey! And aww, thanks. We're pretty sure he'll be okay, it's just scary, is all.

Ooh, see, I'd like to see The Grudge, because Sarah, yay! But me and horror movies do not mix. Seriously. Scream and IKWYDLS scared me.

Oh, I heard the was a new WW movie coming out. Didn't know it had Mr. Depp in it though. I love that movie! Did you hear that they're remaking Alice in Wonderland, and Marilyn Manson is set to play the Queen of Hearts?

Heh, yeah. I refused to see Wrong Turn and Darkness Falls because of my stupid irrational fear. God forbid Aly ever does a scary movie...

Thanks for bein' glad, guys. Our whole family did like, a collective sigh of relief when we found out he was gonna be fine.

Edited 'cause UBB is evil.

Yep, it'll be a year on the 19th. And to commemorate the day our family got into a HUGE fight Saturday night. I vented in my LJ and that made me feel at least a little better.

But Nikki, I understand what you're saying. It's not easy for me NOW. When my grandfather first passed, I made sure to visit the cemetary every week for the first couple of months. Slowly though, especially after my grandmother, it's become harder and harder for me to venture down there. I'm a very spiritual person, so I know they themselves aren't there, just their bodies, but the idea in and of itself just saddens me.

And to top things off, when I was getting the video cam ready for Atlantic City, I came across a tape I had and never realized, from Thanksgiving of 1999. Both of them are on it and at one point my grandfather looks right into the camera and says hi to me. I just completely went off watching it. Heaving sobs really. It's the first time since either of them that's happened.

Shannon, I'm so glad to hear that you're grandpa is going to be ok. I can only imagine how scared you were the past week.

Okay so your Grandmother died like almost a month before my Grandpa. He passed on the 18th of December. I guess I was thinking there were like only two weeks in between. At the time, I wasn't actually thinking straight though, you can understand that I'm sure.

Okay happy thoughts. I ordered eight more BAM DVDs!
