It doesn't really matter what Lex motive was, without Lex, Chloe Sullivan would be dead....
So for the writers to have them being against each other in season 4- forward so instantly is an issue for me.

If Lex didn't have any ounce of care, he could've got her to testify and say, "Screw up" and not have anyone looking out for her after she testified and Lionel was behind bars.

when did he have someone look out for her after she testified?? This is what I"m not on the same page about

She had to testify at the end of Gone to put him behind bars permanently (Lois even says to Martha that Lionel is going to get off now that Chloe is dead) and I didn't hear of any mention of him watching out for her after this.

^^ I'm nto saying he should look after her afterwards but the argument was ^^ that he did. When in fact he did not. She testified at the bail hearing sure, but if she died after this then Lionel would have been let free. She had to testify at the end of Gone to put Lionel in jail so in fact taking care of her was in his own best interest. Therefore it doesnt really show me that they had a great relationship, more like a mutual goal.

For me, though I just felt Chloe disliking Lex season 4 and forward came from nowhere and it was only because Chloe was Clark's friend so we couldn't see Chloe being partial. But, we can see her play cool with Lionel Luthor in the later seasons because Clark was okay with Lionel.

That was my issue. I would've loved Chloe being the best friend of Clark all the while not seeing Lex completely evil right away.
