Smallville 10x18 "Booster" Episode Discussion
After everything that happened with the VRA, Lois tells Clark it's best to make "Clark Kent" forgettable and awkward so people don't suspect he's The Blur. However, the two are stunned when a fame-hungry superhero from the future, Booster Gold (guest star Eric Martsolf, "Days of Our Lives"), sweeps into town and begins making saves and posing for press ops, completely winning over the city of Metropolis. Booster begins his campaign to take The Blur's place as the "World's Greatest Superhero" and tries to charm Lois into writing a story about him, but she's not having his antics and begins her own campaign for The Blur. During one of Booster's saves, an alien weapon in the form of a scarab falls from a truck and fuses itself to a boy named Jaime Reyes, turning him into the Blue Beetle. Unfortunately, Jaime is unable to control the suit and Blue Beetle starts attacking Metropolis. Tom Welling directed the episode written by Geoff Johns. Promotional Photos __________________

I have a feeling Booster is going to give me a damn headache and cause me to glare at him for the whole episode.....considering I'm already doing that even with just the promos....
 Here's me hoping he will grow out of this phase soon...  __________________

  Yeah, he looks like a douche in the promo, but I'm thinking he'll redeem himself somehow. I thought the same about the Wonder Twins and they turned out alright.__________________

i was not a fan of this episode at all...it was lame...and booster was a jerk! yay for tom directing!
 but the episode...couldn't wait for it to be over__________________

This episode was so fun!
Booster Gold did not disappoint (both the episode title and the character). I loved how cocky and how much of an ass he seemed but then he turned around after his convo. with Clark. When he quoted Clark's words to Blue Beetle I couldn't help but smile and think of the many generations that will quote Clark/Superman in the future. Jaime was a great. You could really see a lot of Clark in him which gave it that universal theme of being that outcast. It's always comforting to have relatable storylines like that. It's one of the reasons why I'm so drawn to Superman because I know that feeling of being an outcast, of not having a place to belong. If done right then they're good stories no matter how used, that's what makes them universal. Like Lois, Cat annoys me but she was really funny in this one. Lois will be Lois. Loved her promoting the Blur and standing by her man. Clois- What was fun was that we got to see Lois push the whole glasses issue much like she did in the future that Clark saw in 'Homecoming'. Clark was so sincere regarding Lois. He's afraid of what people will think of such a hot [shot] reporter with a guy like him regarding the geek factor but she doesn't care. That's the best thing ever. Yeah she might love Clark as the Blur but she also loves Clark as Clark. The couch make out was perfect Dominion Preview- OMG the return of Zod, this is gonna be so exciting. And how great is it going to be to have Ollie in the PZ?! Sad that all we have left is Domion, Prophecy and then the finale. I don't want it to end  __________________

This episode was fun and great, I liked it very much!
 Of course, Booster annoyed me and had me glaring from the first moment he showed his face, but I guess that was the point......although I'm still rather disappointed that my wish of hoping that Blue Beetle would just fall on him and crush him did not come true.... But I guess my wishes can't always come true... What I love about Smallville is seeing the origins of every superhero, and I like the way they begin the origins of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, I think those two will make a great team!  It's slowly getting to that time to see Clark come into the light, and I can't wait for that day to come! Preview for Dominion looks amazing! And Ollie's back!!!!!!!!! __________________

Yeah not only does Smallville do great with origin stories but they also do great with backstories (which I guess is kind of the same thing). They gave you enough information to understand who he was and nothing more. All that Booster said to Clark about who he was was stuff that a quick search on google could help with.
I had never known of Booster Gold (or Blue Beetle) before Smallville. They just seemed like background superheroes but Booster really stepped up near the end. I look forward towards his mentorship with Jaime. __________________

One thing that really stuck out for me in this story was Jaime's storyline. Seeing him not be able to relate to people is something that is an all too familiar scenario in my life. After his talk with Lois he tried to get his words out and couldn't. That happens to me constantly and so I loved when Jaime turned into a superhero. It can only happen in fiction though which sucks for me.

I know its exciting for some to see "Clark Kent" persona come out but I've never been such a fan of that version of Clark Kent. I like the Clark Kent we have in the show much better.. and Blur S9 hahaha. I'd rather him wear a mask as Superman and just be him...but I know alas that is not true to the comic. __________________

I loved Eric Martsoff as Booster Gold since I always watch him on Soaps so that was great to see!
I loved Lois storyline of trying to help a person who was getting bullied. |
