I had such high hopes this season after seeing the Kara and Wrath scenes. With the short season, I'm curious to see how that will affect Lexana next season. Will we get any at all with Michael wanting to leave? I'm wondering if he will stick around a bit longer with the shorter season. *hopes*

I guess a lot will depend on whether Michael is contracted for 22 episodes, in which case he will have some episodes due for season 8, or whether he was just contracted for seven seasons

And does anyone know anything about KK's contract?

There is some spec that Michael was bumped up in the credits for a reason. Maybe he made some kind of deal to do next season. SV without Lex would probably not be worth watching. I guess they'd have to make Lionel the main adversary if that happened.

Personally I think that even if they're all sick by now of playing the same character for 7 years they would all stay for season 8, because they did help created these characters and if things end this year with episode 15 none of the characters would have a proper send off.

That's what I'm hoping No matter how much they've tried to use episode 15 to wrap things up somewhat, it's never going to be the definitive way to ends things for Lex, not when they were prepared to expand the season to 22 episodes if at all possible

And having Lionel as head bad guy for season 8 would really suck. It would make a mockery of what the show has been building towards since season 1. Lex needs to overtake Lionel, and kill his father!

I wouldn't even mind if MR only returned for a reduced number of episodes I mean looking at episodes like Blue, sometimes they underuse Michael badly anyway, so if he only had a certain number of episodes like ED gets, at least they would presumedly use Lex correctly for that time. I'd prefer we get Lex all of season 8 obviously, but I guess we should just wait and see how things go

Hey L/Lers, how is everyone doing? Geez I haven't posted here in a while. I've been so busy studying for my finals. I just took my econ final and I guessed so much. Nice opening Nida! I vote #7 because I can't remember what that scene was about.

So about the writer's strike, the last I heard the talks have stopped as some of you have mentioned. I just which the greedy producers would give the writers what they want. It would really suck if the season stoped at 15 episodes. Idk if Michael would come back. I feel like if the writers don't end Lex's storyline properly that he might not want to leave but who knows. I really want to see Michael in other things. I also want to see more Lexana. This strike is going to ruin the whole season. I wish there was more us fans can do.

On a different note have any of you L/Lers ever used Lex and Lana in your homework? I wrote a paper on how sex is portrayed irresponsibly on TV and used Lex and Lana's relationship as an example. I said that Lana acted irresponsibly by rushing into a relationship with her friend while still having feelings for her ex. I said that they should've had her think about the consequences her decisions might bring before actually doing it with Lex. I thought it was cool that I was able to incorporate our couple into my homework. Just wanted to share that with you guys.

I aggree. You would think after 7 years they would all feel a sense of responsibility to give their characters the send off the deserve. Especially since things are being cut short this season. It's very reminiscent to me of David Duchovney leaving The X Files. The show wasn't the same after he left. All the actors have hung in there for 7 years, what's one more?

Yep! Everything has led up to Lex becoming the villian from the comics and movies. If he leaves and Lionel becomes the villian that he once was, what was the point at all? The show is about Clark's journey to Superman and Lex's journey to darkness, not Lionel's. The fact that Lionel knows Clark's secret and is Jor-El's oracle would I think make it difficult. Also to have Lionel still there without Lex just seems strange to me.

Very cool! It's a test of a true Smallville fan to be able to incorporate it into homework.

ITA, it won't be the same if Clark and Lex don't both stay to the end

That would be good too.
Although it doesn't always necessary mean big juicy storyline, also with Erica/Lois as an example, where they don't use her much in some episodes.

But it just wouldn't be good to have a new bad guy, one who would be worse, because what's the point to have someone who can out-evil Lex Luthor?

ITA. You make a lot of good points. I think SV is just not that well written. It's really sad, because, I think SV has the most talented actors. Lana never has to face consquences. She always ends up the 'victim'.

ETA I don't want MR in only a few episodes. I really don't think it would make his storyline any better.

Oh neither do I, but if MR really is so determined to finish with season 7 (as we've always heard), I'm not sure whether they would get him for a full season 8.

I'm guessing it will most likely be a shortened season for him to finish up the character arc. Even if we do get him for 22 episodes, it might be a case of what happened in the middle of season 4 (where he quickly filmed a bunch of scenes all at the same location, and then they got spread out to about 2 scenes an episode at the mansion)
