I just think that Supergirl didn't cause the ratings spike the were going for, so they said goodbye to their spin off idea. And as the writers had no idea what to do with the character and completely blew it they probably decided it was cheaper to save some money by not having her in season 8. They don't have to pay Laura. Plus, they get to save up on Supergirl effects, I bet flying was expensive.
I do think it all comes down to money.

Cris, I agree with you. She's an expensive character to add to the show, and CW was/is already cutting SV's budget.

Nope. Justin has a talent holding deal with CW. Meaning they are already paying him, if he works or not. So after his Pilot wasn't picked up it was to be expected for them to get him on one of their shows, Smallville the most obvious choice. Smallville budget isn't taking a hit with Justin joining the cast.

she's alright in it. her character's a bit annoying sometimes but she does have her moments. however that show is ending and is in its last few episodes anyways.

I read that IS was ending after 4 seasons. How many episodes do they do? Less than 22?

Even if it's ending, at least there's still...what, four seasons to watch? And yeah, I heard her character is a little...b*tchy. Should be different to watch.

I want Kara though, I don't think Instant Star is a show I would watch.
