Yes, yes, yes. Always! That sums me up perfectly. I'm not big on romance and couples, but I love the flirting stage. And dating stage is alright, but starts to get a little less fun. Ha!

I can totally see that. Although I am grateful that with some pairings that I shipped, I enjoyed all of the stages most of the time. lol

But the early stages are always the most fun to watch and I'm sure for the writers to write.

I recently bought S7-S10 of Smallville after a LONG hiatus. I stopped watching around S5/S6 the first time it aired on tv. I've always been a Lois/Superman fan and I kind of felt bad for abandoning Smallville in utter frustration and now I'm obsessed with these two in particular. I love every version of L&C and go through stages when I can't get enough of them. I'm happy to add Tom and Erica to the list. I plan to get S4-S6 before year's end so I can complete my SV Clois set.

I'm just so disappointed there wasn't more of them after they finally go together. I'm currently scouring for fanfiction (canon, angsty and slow burn) but haven't found anything to quench the thirst and thus have resolved to write it myself but don't have much free time.

^Oh that's so incredible! Happy that you finally brought it after a long hiatus and trust me a lot of fans felt the same way as you. I think around season 7, fans just got fed up and started leaving the series all together so a lot of fans were upset with the direction of the show.

So great you most likely love all the arcs versions of the beautiful Clois relationship.

Oh and you write fanfiction yourself?

Yup. lol They were right there in front of each other for a long time.

I'm not a regular writer. I have only ever written for one couple (3 fics), two if you count a soap couple from YEARS ago. I usually write when I absolutely love the couple and can overcome some of the more fantastical obstacles of the sci-fi genre which is heavily plot driven and not character driven. Plotting isn't my strong suit. I love reading fan fiction especially that which is faithful in depicting the essence of the original characters, getting their voices right and all but those fics tend to be few and far in between. I see it as a continuation of their story. I don't mind AU, as long they get the voices right and that's rare. I will ignore it if the story is well written, and characters don't feel shallow. I'm very picky, that's why I resort to (try) writing and even then I'm hard on my own stuff because I always want to tick so many boxes before I'm satisfied, so ideas just end up being that, ideas and nothing written. So when I am inspired and have time to do extensive research (reading transcripts and watching episodes over and over to study facial expressions between character interactions) I will write.

Right now, I want to write a canon divergent story that stretches S8-S10 so I can build up to Clois finally getting together in a way that's leaves little room to doubt about who Clark truly loves but I have to have access to the other seasons if I want to get the characterisation as accurate as possible. I basically want to clean up the middle of S8, the writers dropped the ball after Chloe horrific wedding. I have a three week break in December so there's hope that I will put pen to paper and come up with something.

The main thing that really turns me off on a fanfiction is out of character writing and bad grammar. I don't not like reading that.
So, I am with you with needing the essence of the original characters and the voices right. So, I'm with you with being very picky here.

Oh yeah those 3 season 8 episodes were just horrible I could definitely had lived without that.

I hope you get the fanfiction written that you sort of envision.

For me, it's profanity. People swear all the time but when suddenly characters who never so much as cuss a mosquito spout four letter words, especially in the more mature fics, which can also be brimming with crass behaviour that so uncharacteristic, I drop it immediately. It's such a turn off.

Well that falls in line with the OOC. If their characters doesn't do it on the show than they shouldn't be doing it in a fic.
