I don't think that the online community is such a big part of the people that actually tune in. And the "normal" people don't really care for spoilers or promotional pics but for the Promos airing on TV. And they definitely promised a lot.

^That's a good point Lynn. Hopefully the ratings will pick up as the season progresses.

No, not a big part at all. But every person whose viewing is being logged, basically, is significant. And any of them could have heard or read something about the new season, and not felt a reason to tune in.

I think the Friday move, being nine seasons in, and last seasons finale were probably the biggest contributors, but I think it's still possible that the stuff they were releasing for Season 9 didn't help. Just my opinion.

I'm curious to see the latest ratings.

I think the latest ratings were about the same...the show was also pre-empted in NY for a baseball game.

We finally have DVR #'s for Savior and they are very very good!!!

TV By the Numbers:

#1 show on the list for biggest gain in 18-49 audience for DVR viewers -- Smallville

From the Live Feed Blog via Hollywood Reporter:

Quote:
The CW's "Smallville," which also airs Friday nights, likewise gained 50%, tying "Dollhouse" for the biggest percentage gain.
That same week? The second highest gain for a CW show was 90210 who only gained 40%, GG only gained 36% and MP 38%

Premiere week DVR results: 'Dollhouse,' 'Smallville' top gain list--The Live Feed | THR

^ The increase reflects both DO's precious to 18-49 demos (which equals ad $$) and average viewership. Also considering how well SV is doing for downloads on Amazon and iTunes is amazing. After Rabid aired, the season pass jumped back into the top 25.

Thank you for that, Pemmy.

I lurve the #'s. I believe that Metallo and Rabid will also go up too, as well as the episodes to follow.

Smallville has a really loyal fanbase and those figures prove just that. People are still watching and invested in the show. 9 years is a long time, but we've come all this way and I won't leave until AFTER I get my s10.

Word, Lessie

And shows that SV still remains CW's #1 show and fans continue to watch it. Staying power for a nine year old show is amazing. Also with s1-3 now available via Amazon and iTunes, this could bode very well for a s10 and the money SV continues to bring to the WB and keeps CW afloat.

I'm pretty sure many new fans came along since season 7-8 as well.
