Smallville 7x11 "Siren" Episode Discussion

The 11th episode of "Smallville" Season 7 airs in the U.S. on Thursday, February 7th, 2008 at 8.00pm. Titled "Siren", here's the official (spoiler filled) description from The CW...

"While secretly working for Oliver (guest-star Justin Hartley), Chloe (Allison Mack) intercepts one of Lex's (Michael Rosenbaum) project files, but she is attacked by the Black Canary (guest-star Alaina Huffman), a mystery woman with a subsonic cry. Dinah Lance, Black Canary's alter ego, is a conservative talk show host who is working at the Daily Planet and clashes with Lois (Erica Durance). Lex convinces the Black Canary that the Green Arrow and his team are terrorists so she launches an attack on the Green Arrow and Clark (Tom Welling). Meanwhile, Lois discovers Oliver's secret."

Huffman recently played Maureen in Sci Fi Channel's Painkiller Jane.

Written by Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders my personal fav. writer team

Directed by Kevin Fair

The CW and WB have released the following trailer and Director's Cut video clip

Meanwhile, TV Guide has the following description for this same episode...

Chloe runs afoul of the Black Canary (Alaina Huffman) when she procures one of Lex's project files for Oliver (Justin Hartley); Lex suspects the Green Arrow and retaliates; Lois discovers Oliver's secret.

Enjoy

Loved tonight's episode.

Oliver is just ! I hope he's in a few more episodes because he makes them great. He is one of the few people who actually tells Clark what he needs to hear.

Black Canary was good and I hope we see more of her in the future.

The Clois scene was great. I loved the whole "I've seen parts of him you've never seen" and "I bet you have" and the hug.

I loved when Clark and Chloe walked in Oliver's place and Lois tried to make them look at the view and cover for Oliver's arrows.

I guess Lex just finished watching "Equilibrium" before meeting up with BC at the end, cause those moves he was busting out with GA seemed an awful lot like the gunkata fight, lol.

also did anyone get an Agent 47 vibe from him at this part?

and i'm glad Chloe didn't come up with the superhero name this time! her suggestion would've been awful. what was it, Yellow Swan or something?

Finally an episode I was thrilled with! This season hasn't been that great in my opinion. There have only been okay episodes but nothing too exciting, until now.

This episode totally rocked the Black Canary was such an awesome character. Had never heard of her before so it was awesome to see her become recruited in to the Justice League.

Gotta love Chloe and her side-kick stuff. How funny was Clark when he became so over-protective. I'm really starting to see a sibling bond between the two of them with Clark as the older brother.

Green Arrow returns!!!!!!!! Definately one of the main highlights for me. It's always great to have other superheroes return. And Ollie was just incredible as always.

The whole thing when Lois found out that Oliver was in fact the Green Arrow was hilarous. And then how Lois brought up the whole kiss thing she had with Clark last year. Very funny considering Lois felt apauled by it.

Really loved the whle redemption thing with Black Canary. The Boy Scout comes through once again as he helped the Canary see things from a different p.o.v. allowing her to question her justice with Lex.

Finally there were scenes with Lana and Clark that I could live with. I'm getting really tired of them so it was fun to see them so awkward with each other and not trusting. Really loved how Clark felt betrayed with Lana's connection with Bizarro.

And my favorite scene of all (aside from all of the action that went on): The Clark and Lois scene near the end. It was so beautiful. And the fact that it was just the two of them with the lights dim. It was perfect. I kind of wish that Clark had been honest with Lois in telling her that he was starting to doubt his relationship with Lana considering how open she was with him. And I just have to write this, what Lois said to Clark was so sweet, "Besides, you know why settle for hot, rich and famous when I can hang out with you."

That line was the nail in the coffin (so to speak) of just how much their friendship has grown.

Definately a great episode! We need more action like this.

interesting episode topic at hand duel id conflict.

I feel we are moving in the direction of Lois and clark finally getting together. Lana said it as well as Lois about relationship with somebody who has a greter purpose.

I loved the black canary, I only hope that maube they could do a mini series of Justice league once Smallville series ends. But it may not happen due to a movie that is going to be made.

Erica durrance has not been in a loto f episodes due to her doing a movie , but I noticed Lana charecture has gotten stronger and wiser. She is no longer the weak female who always gets hurt.

Best scene last night Clark in the Luthor mansion at super super speed stopping a arrow a bullett removing Lex guns and saving black Canary all in matter of Secounds. Nice special effects on that one.

Lois scene after clohe and clark find her in a detroyed Oliver condo, trying to be coy about all of Green Arrow stuff. i only wish clark and Clohe told her that they already knew.

The preview for next week didn't match the episode preview i saw (Edit) on http://www.kryptonsite.com/smallville.htm . i know they have two more new episodes to air .Next week is called Fracture I just re looked at the epsiode just didnt show the part, in the preview i expected. posting it hear would be spoiler.

then 3 weeks of re runs . Depeding on if the strike gets settled by monday, will depend on what is the final episode of the year.

How great was this episode? Fun, fun, FUN!
Oh Ollie, you should stay, please stay! The show is so much better when you're around.
I also liked Black Canary. The actress was good, and Dinah redeemed herself by the end of the episode. Plus, she's snarky.
Lex learned how to fight! And I have a feeling fight choreographer watched Agent 47.
Clark grew a pair! I was delighted to see him not be whipped for once!
Even Clana didn't annoy me so much in this episode. Maybe because I was doing the whole evil laugh thing and cheering Clark on during the scenes.
Lois knows Ollie is Green Arrow! What a way to find out. Loved the bickering when they were both tied up.
Those two are still adorable as ever. And heartbreaking. I just wanted to hug them both.
At least Lois got a hug. That was a great Clois scene.

What else...um.
Was part of Director's Cut, in Lex's office, cut in the episode? The scene seemed shorter.

This may very well be the first episode this season I'll rewatch just to enjoy it again.

I clapped when he told him he's not the one who's at home sitting on the couch.

i finally got around to watching yesterdays episode. i loved that chloe was involved in ollie's mission. i also liked how clark let lex get stabed.

my favorite quote had to be

lois: "i've seen parts of him that yyou've never seen"

clark: "i'm sure you have"

toward the end i was hoping that clark would except the invitation into the justice leage.

also as many people have said the show is better with ollie in it .

A pretty good episode. Would have been better if Clark had let Lana go at the end. Their relationship is just "blah" now. Why the writer's haven't completely severed it yet is beyond me. What, do they think we like watching the hero getting held back by some sick obsession he has with a girl who is no longer like the girl he "fell in love" with back in high school? Enough is enough. They've had like 5+ tries at a relationship and none have stuck. End it, for the viewer's sake!

PS: Glad to have Ollie back, seems he'll be the only hero we'll see anytime soon!
