i started re-watching season 10 back when that DVD set was finally released here... but I only made it to mid-season, for the same reason as you.

I did do a rewatch of seasons 8-10 when I first brought the complete collection just because I've seen those seasons a lot less, but then I wanted to do a complete series rewatch after that and I ended up stalling at some point
I will get around to starting seasons 5 eventually though __________________

The first few seasons can be quite 'painful' to watch.
Everyone was so young and naive and the acting and effects were mediocre most of the time.__________________

Some of the freak of the week episodes can be a bit painful, but I enjoy the characters enough to see me through

That's true. Especially Clark/Lex was written very well in those first seasons.
