I think part of it is because I started SV before Lois was introduced, whereas I am seeing a lot of you started watching in S4 when she already came on and then caught up with the previous seasons.

I knew of Smallville before Lois came around because of my family so casually watched and loved Lana/Clana. Clois/Lois is when I stayed with the show and loved it.

Also, Erica was more loved as Lois when she first came since she was ONLY suppose to be in 4 episodes but she waa so well accepted that it got moved to 8 episodes and than eventually 13....

She was only suppose to be in the episodes Crusade - Devoted... remember in Devoted when Lois FINALLY left town.

And Clark and Lois left in good terms. That was suppose to be the end of Lois.. but of course she return for Chloe's birthday in the "Spell" episode... and than Smallville producers needed to get some kind of clarence with DC for they could use Lois more.

Because Superman Returns was coming out, it was difficult and they were told that they could use Lois but she can't have romance with Clark... and those terms were agreed upon, so they decided to keep her on as an annoyance to Clark.

Season 5, they didn't know what to do with Lois clearly but she was staying on because of her popularity.

Season 8 (fascinating timing

) is when the Smallville producers finally had NO MORE RESTRICTIONS!

So they could use Lois anyway they wanted without any interference from DC.

Good to know all that! I remember the Clark/Lois scene at the end of Devoted and the cute hug.
