Nope, as far as I can recall, Dumbledore paid him a visit because they have no Potions Master at Hogwarts (since Snape became DADA professor) so he called on him (as a friend) and ask if he can teach Potions instead.

Snape was a very scary Potions master and I like Slughorn. I feel like if I was a Hogwarts student, I'd most likely fail if Snape was the Potions master.
