I may need to re-watch the films (DH in particular) but this scene that you mentioned was the part in the forest with Lily/James/Remus/Sirius who Harry is seeing as a 'vision'?

Yes, I think if Lily was alive she'd have forgiven everything Snape has done in the past.

Yes that's the part I mean. I wonder if the film makers did it deliberately. I just rewatched it tonight and also in the part where Dumbledore and Harry are talking at "King's Cross" Harry asks about Lily and Snape's patronuses being the same and saying it is curious. And Dumbledore says it doesn't seem curious at all. Know this isn't mentioned in the book, but I feel like in the film they are suggesting Lily harboured feelings for Snape. Again I could be completely wrong!
Thanks for your reply btw!

Wow. I didn't quite catch that when I watched the film and maybe because we know how it ended but I'll re-watch this and see for myself if they are implying this. :)

Pottermore revelation!

Quote:

In a piece titled “Cokeworth,” Rowling reveals an interesting detail about Snape’s childhood. Cokeworth is the name of the fictional town where Harry’s mother Lily and aunt Petunia grew up — and it turns out it’s where Snape grew up as well.

We learned the name of Snape’s childhood street, Spinner’s End, in “The Half-Blood Prince,” in the opening scene where Severus makes an Unbreakable Vow with Narcissa Malfoy to protect her son, Draco, during his mission to kill Albus Dumbledore. Many fans already speculated that Spinner’s End was located in Lily Potter’s hometown, and now, it’s confirmed by Rowling herself.

It’s an extra wrinkle for the complicated relationship between Snape and Lily. Despite his constant harshness toward Harry throughout the series, we eventually learned that Snape loved Harry’s mother ever since they were students together at Hogwarts — and as a result of her death at Voldemort’s hands, Snape dedicated the rest of his life to protecting her son, even if theirs wasn’t always the friendliest student-teacher relationship.

Now, we can safely say that Snape’s love for Lily dates back even further than their time at Hogwarts. Snape grew up in the same place where Lily grew up — and he was with her when she died. How’s that for an epic, full-circle, tragic love story?

SNAPE AND LILY

"Lily! Wait! Don’t you remember that day down by the lake?"

"Of course I do."

"Why can’t we go back to that?"

"Because you’ve changed. Those people…"

"Lil."

"Be the man I know you are. What happened to the boy who made the leaves fly for me that day?"

I love this new Pottermore stuff! Get those fics coming!

The first entry, titled Cokeworth, sheds light on the town where Harry's uncle, Vernon Dursley, took the muggle family in an attempt to avoid the magical letters inviting the young Harry to study at Hogwarts.

Now Rowling reveals the town's significance and links it with an episode that happened five books later: a meeting between Voldemort supporters Bellatrix LeStrange and Narcissa Malfoy at Severus Snape's childhood home.

Although the name of Snape's childhood road, Spinner's End, had been revealed in the books, it was not known until now that it was located in the same town as the one in which Harry Potter's mother, Lily, grew up. By making this connection, Rowling has paved a path between Snape's origins and the final twist in the whole Harry Potter series.

It sounds like Cokeworth is based on the sort of industrial town located in the Pennines or the Black Country. Rowling explains that the name is meant to "evoke associations of hard work and grime". She adds: "Cokeworth has a river running through it, evidence of at least one large factory in the long chimney overlooking Snape's house, and many small streets full of workers' houses."

Before now, fans have speculated on the location of Spinner's End, in an attempt to find out more about the potions master's origins.
